Always happy and honored to advise and do demos for Public Safety Agencies wanting to start a drone program for their department. My drone journey began eight years ago today with the purchase of this humble DJI Spark drone. Iโ€™ve had an interest in aviation since I was 11 years old and saw โ€œThe Great Waldo Pepperโ€ starring Robert Redford as a barnstorming pilot. My interest in aviation continued as I served as an Air Traffic Controller in the Marine Corps Reserves, got my pilotโ€™s licence at age 27, served as a a Naval Flight Officer in the Navy, and a surveillance pilot in the FBI. When it came time to retire from the FBI in 2019, I had a decision make. Should I get some boring safe job working as a fraud investigator, or do something fun and interesting that I would enjoy. I chose the latter and started a drone business. My role in the drone world slowly evolved into that of an instructor to those who wanted to learn about this cool and exciting industry. Itโ€™s been a great journey ever since. Iโ€™ve trained hundreds of aspiring drone pilots all over the United States including Public Safety professionals, network cameramen, utility company employees, business owners, and hobbyists. Myself and co-instructor Gene Robinson have trained 200 TxDOT employees to fly drones, ensuring they have another tool at their disposal to keep our highways and bridges safe. Itโ€™s been a great journey, and I canโ€™t wait to see what the future holds! ๐Ÿ‘
