When Miriam and Roger arrived for their newborn session, there was one thing Roger wanted me to know:

“I don’t really like being photographed.”

Honestly? I hear that all the time.

The funny thing is, most people who say they hate being photographed don’t actually hate photos. They hate feeling awkward, self-conscious, or like they’re performing.

So we didn’t focus on the camera.

We talked. We laughed. We admired this tiny new human they created. We slowed down and enjoyed the moment.

Somewhere along the way, the camera disappeared and what remained was a new family falling in love.

Those are the photographs that matter.

The ones that remind you years from now not just what your baby looked like, but how this season felt.

This is Julia. (My youngest!)

And today, she graduates from FSU’s School of Engineering. I could not be prouder.

Over the past five years, I’ve watched her build something deeper than a degree. Stamina. Focus. Grit. The quiet kind of confidence that doesn’t need to announce itself. She didn’t just get through it… she grew into herself along the way.

And while I know she’s not done learning, today feels like that beautiful in-between moment -the end of the beginning, and the wide-open start of whatever comes next.

Also… her ceremony falls on a full moon, which feels exactly right 🌕 (hippie chick much!?!). A full moon is about release and stepping forward & if there was ever a moment for both, it’s this one.

Last week, I had her all to myself for the Order of the Engineer ceremony, a tradition rooted in ethics, responsibility, and pride in the profession. Watching her take that pledge, surrounded by the people she’s learned and grown with, was pretty sweet.

Julia… YOU did this & I am filled with so much happiness, pride and love for you and all you've accomplished!!

Happy Earth Day 🌿

I recently spent a week exploring Joshua Tree, Anza Borrego, and La Jolla with my daughter, followed by a retreat at Rancho La Puerta with my friend Heather.

And honestly… I wasn’t prepared for how stunning it all was.

Here’s what stuck with me:
• Stars that don’t compete with city lights
• Joshua Trees that somehow feel both weird and perfect
• Gorgeous flowers that refuse to be subtle

And every image here? iPhone. That’s it.

Where was the last place you visited that left you feeling awestruck by our wild and beautiful planet ?

Time doesn’t change who you are to each other... it just adds to the story.

The goal was to recreate photos that matched from ones taken over 50 years ago.

What also came for the ride was:
The humor.
The ease.
The way they still genuinely enjoy each other.

You don’t outgrow being siblings.

And when you step in front of the camera without trying so hard…
that’s when it shows.

You don’t notice it at first.
The slower steps.
The softer voices.
The way time gently reshapes the people who raised you.
But then… you do.
And suddenly, being together feels different.
More intentional.
More precious.
These sessions are about that awareness —
the hugs that last a beat longer,
the laughter that feels a little fuller,
the quiet pride in simply standing side by side.
Not posed.
Not forced.
Just real connection, unfolding in front of the camera.
Because this chapter?
It deserves to be seen.

As we enter the ides March, and my head seems to want to explode from all that is happening in and around the world, it has been so helpful to think back to last October and the experience I had at the Firecreek retreat led by the extraordinary Heather Berg.

There were morning hikes, yoga twice a day, hot tubs, chickens, goats, ducks, donkeys (who joined us on some of our hikes!!) falconry, deliciously prepared food, beautifully appointed homes to stay in and the most amazing humans who created the space to be, to listen, to laugh and to connect.

It was magical.

The house is quieter now.
But the connection is deeper.

Family photo sessions with adult children aren’t about recreating the past. They’re about honoring what time has shaped.

Each child is seen for who they’ve become.
Each parent-child relationship is given its own space.
Siblings fall back into familiar rhythms.
There’s movement, laughter, and an ease that only comes from shared history.

This is the season where love looks different — less hands-on, more eye-to-eye.

Less managing. More meeting.

These images don’t say remember when.
They say look at us now.

Thank you Sharon, Sam and Jamie for bringing the shared love and connection that the three of you imbue. You closed out my year with laughter, light and JOY!

What an incredible evening the Wise Journey book launch was! Hosted at Yoga Journey & celebrated by the women who photographed and shared their stories.

What started as a “I wonder if..” a simple curiosity about what women my age are feeling, navigating, learning, grew into something so much larger. I wondered if others felt the shifts of menopause, the moments of invisibility, the sense of being pushed to the sidelines.

But here’s the magic: not one woman who sat in front of my camera cried over loss. Every single one rejoiced in her strength, her power, her return to herself. They shared their stories with pride, humor, wisdom, and an unshakeable sense of self.

This thimble-sized idea became a book that reframed how I see aging. At the end of the day, The Wise Journey has become a love letter to my daughter; that she can age with the knowledge that it just gets better!

Thank you to the incredible Leslie Glickman for opening the doors of Yoga Journey for our Wise Journey book launch. 🖤 and thank you to the amazing women who joined me on the journey.

My beautiful friend, Mia Paolini, just graduated and is now a registered Clinical Social Work intern and is stepping into the world of therapy—at over 50!
Let that sink in for a second.

When most people start talking about slowing down, she decided to level up. She’s proof that purpose doesn’t expire, that compassion only deepens with time, and that healing work is even more powerful when guided by life experience.

I couldn’t be prouder of her courage, her heart, and her reminder that we’re all still becoming.
