Over the past few years, I’ve witnessed a beautiful softening. A growing awareness of himself and others. A deeper desire to understand all those wonderfully complicated things we collectively refer to as “adulting.”

One of my favorite parts of a personal branding session is leaning in to learn about the people who run the business.

With Angela Updike of 10,000 Names, the answer wasn’t simply “yoga.”

Angela is a teacher, a guide and a perpetual student herself. She’s often found in a bookstore or tucked into a space where she can read, research, plan and expand what she knows.

That curiosity finds its way back into everything she creates for her clients; from individual sessions to experiences designed for couples who want to reconnect, to group workshop using a variety of modalities she has explored and studied.

So our session became about telling that larger story: Angela in her beautiful studio, Angela in the work, and Angela as the person whose curiosity keeps pushing the work forward.

That’s the part of personal branding photography I love: finding the story behind the business and making sure people can actually see it.

There’s something pretty wonderful about walking into a gathering full of women you don’t necessarily know & leaving feeling like you do.

Nikki Davis opened up her beautiful Jupiter space to connect & bring women ... somewhere along the way, it simply became a celebration of BEING.

We moved through a beautiful yoga practice... we ate an incredible potluck lunch... We talked. We laughed. We played. And new faces quickly stopped feeling quite so new.

What struck me most was the women themselves; smart, thoughtful, funny, curious, kind and completely willing to show up.

Nikki has a gift for bringing people together.

Happy birthday, Nikki. What a lovely way to celebrate another trip around the sun. ❤️

One of my favorite things about personal branding sessions is getting to meet women who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Debra Orringer is one of those women.

Through her work, she helps women reconnect with themselves during midlife through wellness practices, restorative travel experiences, physical health, and intentional realignment. Her message is refreshing: you don't have to force your way through every challenge. Sometimes the path forward begins by honoring where you are right now.

That message influenced every part of her branding session. We created photographs that feel approachable, authentic, and aligned with the experience she offers her clients.

When Miriam and Roger arrived for their newborn session, there was one thing Roger wanted me to know:

“I don’t really like being photographed.”

Honestly? I hear that all the time.

The funny thing is, most people who say they hate being photographed don’t actually hate photos. They hate feeling awkward, self-conscious, or like they’re performing.

So we didn’t focus on the camera.

We talked. We laughed. We admired this tiny new human they created. We slowed down and enjoyed the moment.

Somewhere along the way, the camera disappeared and what remained was a new family falling in love.

Those are the photographs that matter.

The ones that remind you years from now not just what your baby looked like, but how this season felt.

This is Julia. (My youngest!)

And today, she graduates from FSU’s School of Engineering. I could not be prouder.

Over the past five years, I’ve watched her build something deeper than a degree. Stamina. Focus. Grit. The quiet kind of confidence that doesn’t need to announce itself. She didn’t just get through it… she grew into herself along the way.

And while I know she’s not done learning, today feels like that beautiful in-between moment -the end of the beginning, and the wide-open start of whatever comes next.

Also… her ceremony falls on a full moon, which feels exactly right 🌕 (hippie chick much!?!). A full moon is about release and stepping forward & if there was ever a moment for both, it’s this one.

Last week, I had her all to myself for the Order of the Engineer ceremony, a tradition rooted in ethics, responsibility, and pride in the profession. Watching her take that pledge, surrounded by the people she’s learned and grown with, was pretty sweet.

Julia… YOU did this & I am filled with so much happiness, pride and love for you and all you've accomplished!!

Happy Earth Day 🌿

I recently spent a week exploring Joshua Tree, Anza Borrego, and La Jolla with my daughter, followed by a retreat at Rancho La Puerta with my friend Heather.

And honestly… I wasn’t prepared for how stunning it all was.

Here’s what stuck with me:
• Stars that don’t compete with city lights
• Joshua Trees that somehow feel both weird and perfect
• Gorgeous flowers that refuse to be subtle

And every image here? iPhone. That’s it.

Where was the last place you visited that left you feeling awestruck by our wild and beautiful planet ?

Time doesn’t change who you are to each other... it just adds to the story.

The goal was to recreate photos that matched from ones taken over 50 years ago.

What also came for the ride was:
The humor.
The ease.
The way they still genuinely enjoy each other.

You don’t outgrow being siblings.

And when you step in front of the camera without trying so hard…
that’s when it shows.
