My name is Kate Morrison and I am originally from Columbus, Ohio but have lived in the Low Country since 2013.

The inspiration for my photographs originally started while I was competing on the equestrian show jumping circuit, and was simultaneously photographing these events, for one of the premier equestrian photographers in the world. Since 2010, I have branched out and photographed a broad array of subjects in a variety of settings. My focus as a photographer is to capture the beauty and essence of my

subject(s), always looking to bring out the uniqueness of that individual. I look forward in meeting and getting to know you!

The first sunset session of 2026 did not disappoint 👏

Dan + Mary chose the beach for their engagement photos and the evening gave us the kind of light you hope for but can’t always count on. Soft sunset, calm water, and the beach basically to ourselves.

The first few minutes of a session usually look like this:

We finally meet face to face, I collect phones, keys, and whatever else is hiding in your pockets, and we shake off the awkward.

I ask a few questions to get to know who’s going to pretend they’re too cool for this, who’s secretly excited, and who just wants a snack.

It’s low-pressure, laid-back, and gives everyone a minute to ease in before we really get started.

Extended family sessions take a bit more coordination, both when it comes to schedules and making sure there’s time for all the different groupings. I move through these sessions at a comfortable pace so no one feels rushed. Availability is limited, so booking early helps keep the process simple and stress free.

There’s something really special about getting to document moments like this for your best friend. From Wesley’s adorable nursery to all the newborn snuggles, I loved every second of this in-home session. Watching their family grow and being able to capture it along the way means the world.

As the year winds down, I’m throwing it back to one of my favorite shoots from 2025 because one thing about me... I AM a sunset person.

This evening session on Buck Island was proof that it’s always worth the trip to somewhere special. The private island setting gave us the most incredible golden light and stunning backdrop for family photos, a surprise proposal, and engagement shots all in one..

Class of 2026 now is the perfect time to get your senior photos done before yearbook deadlines close and you’re swamped with everything else.

Between college decisions, final exams, and graduation events, spring gets hectic fast - and by then it’s usually too late for yearbook submissions. Getting your session done now means you’ll have beautiful photos ready when you need them most.
