Welcome back to my series - Tip Tuesday! Where I come at you every Tuesday with some helpful tips to make the most out of your time with your photographer at your next photo session.

Today we're going to talk about patterns to avoid!

I mention this in my prep emails to clients, but I totally get that some people don't have the time or energy to read those.

There are some prints that should be avoided like the plague for your photos.

You want to make sure that your pattern has enough breathing room so my camera can read the data. If you wear a print that is too busy with closely intersecting lines, it will create something called a moire effect and looks so wonky in pictures.

And the bad news is, there's nothing I can do to fix it.

You know those trending shirts now that have an unsuspecting pattern in disguise, like you get up close to it and realize it's actually martini glasses but from far away it just looks like stripes? I'm talking about those too.

When in doubt, just go solid.

Did you like this series?! Should I keep it going for September? What should I focus on next?

In an attempt to shake things up in a typical family session, I might have us sit for a few pictures! A lot of people think that sitting poses aren't flattering, but they can be if they're done correctly!

You want to know what truly saves my sanity during busy season? The email templates that I run in my automated workflows.

At this point in the summer, my beach sessions are 90% booked, so I find myself sending the same "sorry I don't have any beach availability but I can get you in for xyz location" multiple times a day.

The only thing that keeps me from losing my mind is that it's 2 clicks to send the email instead of having to type it from scratch every single time thanks to these email templates.

In my Plug & Play Email Template guide I have more than 11 email templates that I use for every single part of my booking process so that I don't have to physically type out the same email over and over again.

If you find yourself tired of typing the same emails over and over again, comment the word EMAIL and I'll send you a link to the EXACT email templates I send to every single one of my clients.

Welcome back to my series - Tip Tuesday! Where I come at you every Tuesday with some helpful tips to make the most out of your time with your photographer at your next photo session.

Today we're going to talk about color palettes!

Whether you're planning a session for your family of 4 or a family of 24, don't overthink the process!

Depending on the season / look that you're going for, all you have to do is choose 3 *key* colors or shades and have everyone stick within that theme.

Shades of green, pink, and orange photograph well no matter where we're taking pictures.

You can always work in basics like beige and white to help tone things down too if needed.

I like to start every session asking if clients have a "side" they prefer. This small detail often goes a long way in my sessions and I find that clients (men and women) really appreciate it! Even if 2 people have the same "side" I've found a way to work it out so they can still get a great shot!

I just delivered my last July gallery, which means it's time for another recap post!

July brought me 22 sessions with 8 repeat families! This month I made it a priority to not book more than 2 sessions a day which made my work load *much* more manageable.

I had 8 sunrise sessions and only 3 sunsets last month, dare I say the sunrises are kind of growing on me? 😳

I was only at Coastal Discovery twice because the heat index was so high and they close early in the evening before it has a chance to drop a few degrees. I'm ready for temps to start cooling off so I can get back there more often!

My largest group had 28 people in it!

August is already halfway over and I can't wait to start delivering some of these galleries! I'm currently on a 3 week delivery schedule.

One thing that I like to think sets me apart from other photographers is that I have a pretty informative client process. I have a series of emails that go out in an automated workflow to each of my clients that tells them what to expect through every step of the process. Even if they've been coming to me for 3+ years and already know "the process" we're all human, we all forget things, and I know we can all use a reminder!

Comment the word EMAILS and I'll DM you a link to my exact Plug & Play Email templates that have helped more than a dozen photographers give their own clients the best experience ever!

Facebook mems really got me in my feels this morning. 10 years ago TODAY was my very first ever day of school as a teacher.

Ever since I was a little girl, teaching has always been my dream. At 10 years old, I was convinced that I wanted to open my own Montessori preschool. Fast forward a few years, and I actually got to teach in my own classroom 🥹. The relationships I formed with my students and their parents over the 5 school years I taught is something I will cherish forever.

But you know what I cherish more? The freedom that being my own boss gives me. This ‘little job’ I made for myself has given me the privilege to work in 2 foreign countries (and countless different states). It’s allowed me to still work with kids (at daily photo sessions and at career fairs I get to speak at). It’s given me the freedom to make my own schedule so that I’m able to spend time with my baby girl while still providing for our family. It’s allowed me to keep my creative outlet alive with all my little side quest hobbies. I also still get the fulfillment of being a teacher by hosting workshops (in my own studio) and launching courses to help other photographers unlock their maximum potential too.

I’ve met some of my best friends because of this profession. And you better believe that I don’t take any of this for granted.

Would I have imagined this as my life 10 years ago when I was welcoming those 22 little first graders into my very first classroom? Hell no. But I’m so thankful for where my life has taken me and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for the next 10 years.
