(Not my photos) Today marks 18 years since Parkersburg Iowa was struck by an EF-5 tornado. This one is close to home for me. You can still see some if the scars left from this tornado however, the community came together stronger than ever to rebuild and start fresh. Today you would hardly know an Ef-5 went through that town.

On 5-18-26 I was chasing a tornado warned supercell near Blue Rapids Kansas. Personally I will say this chase was particularly difficult and required precise analysis of the situation at hand. I was catching up to the supercell from behind the storm with a rapidly accelerating rfd surge. There were at least 3 moments I was questioning if I needed to bail as the winds/rain were extremely difficult to read as it was multi directional and high speed at times. This video was shortened down to the moments the tornado appeared ahead of me. I will post the video of driving through the rfd surge in the near future as I believe it deserves its own video. Overall I consider this yet another successful chase! Midwest Wx

On 5-17-26 I was positioned in Saint Libory Nebraska chasing a very ripe atmosphere for tornadoes! Watch as this tornado touches down and very quickly grows into a large VIOLENT EF3 tornado.

Tomorrow is looking to be a pretty significant triple point setup! Those who live in the highlighted area need to be weather aware! I will be chasing this so make sure you follow for more updates!

The Midwest Wx Team will be in the field tomorrow as a severe weather threat is expected Sunday afternoon into Sunday night across portions of the central Plains and Upper Midwest. Severe thunderstorms may initially develop as discrete supercells capable of producing very large hail and strong tornadoes before evolving into one or more organized lines of storms with an increasing threat for widespread damaging winds. Residents in affected areas should remain weather aware. Follow Midwest Wx for updates and ensure they have multiple ways to receive warnings and alerts throughout the day and overnight hours
