One thing I think parents worry about and can cause them to put off booking photos is whether their kids will cooperate.

And honestly? They're kids. They have big emotions in little bodies. They get distracted. They get shy. Sometimes I'm a complete stranger to them at the beginning of our session, and that can feel a little overwhelming.

But the beautiful thing is that children don't need to be smiling at the camera or perfectly cooperating for an entire session for us to create meaningful images.

When we take the pressure off and let them play, explore, snuggle up with mom, or simply be themselves, that's when the magic happens. That's when their real personalities start to shine through.

The goal isn't perfection. The goal is documenting who they are right now. So don't let the fear of an imperfect session keep you from documenting a season you'll never get back. If you've been putting off photos because you're worried your little ones won't sit still or smile on command, this is your reminder that they don't have to!

Hey guys!!

I have a favor to ask of all of my clients!

If we've worked together and you've enjoyed your experience, I would be so grateful if you'd take a few minutes to leave a review on my Google page and page.

As photographers, so much of our business comes from word of mouth and reviews. When someone is trying to find the right photographer, they're not just looking at photos, they're trying to get a feel for what the experience is actually like. Hearing from real clients helps them know what to expect and helps them feel confident when reaching out.

If you're leaving a Google review, adding a few of your favorite images from your session or wedding is incredibly helpful too! I know I always love seeing photos when I'm reading reviews for businesses, and future clients do too.

Every review genuinely means so much to me. Thank you for trusting me to document your memories and for supporting this little dream of mine!

Technically, this was both my first and last senior session of the season.

She would have been a 2027 senior, but she decided to graduate early, which means we didn’t have the traditional timeframe of planning out her session…BUT it was such a good night and it reminded me why I love them so much.

Every senior is different. Different interests, different personalities, different dreams for what comes after high school. One of my favorite parts of these sessions is getting to learn all of that and find ways to weave it into their photos.

That's why I always tell my seniors to bring the things they love and choose locations that mean something to them. The goal isn't to recreate someone else's photos, it's to create photos that feel true to who you are.

When people look at a photo, they don't always realize how much intention went into creating it.

A lot of my images are what I would describe as cinematic. While that term gets used a lot, it has less to do with an editing style and more to do with the feeling of the image.

When you watch a movie, every scene is carefully crafted to make you feel something. The lighting, movement, composition, expressions, and environment all work together to tell a story. Cinematic photography works the same way. The goal isn't just to document what's in front of the camera, it's to create an image that feels like a real moment.

Many people assume photos are either posed or candid, but most of my images fall somewhere in between. Yes, I'm directing you. I'm telling you where to stand, where to look, and how to move. But every choice has a purpose. The way you're positioned in relation to each other, how you move through a space, and the connection between you they all help create emotion and tell a story.

That's why movement plays such a big role in my sessions. I'll give prompts that create genuine connection, not because I'm trying to force a candid moment, but because people naturally connect when they're doing something other than standing perfectly still.

Those “in-between moments” are often what bring a photo to life. The result is an image that feels less like a portrait and more like a frame pulled from a film, something that makes you feel there's a story unfolding beyond what you can see.

Because I don't just want to create photos that show what a moment looked like. I want to create photos that make you feel like you were there.

As the kids get older and life gets busier, family photos are often one of the first things to get pushed to the back burner. And honestly, I understand why. Between sports, work, school schedules, activities, and just trying to keep up with everyday life, it can feel impossible to slow down long enough to document this season.

But the truth is, these years matter just as much as the little kid years do.

Think about how much a person changes during high school alone. Or even in the two years after graduation. Their personalities grow, their relationships shift, they become more independent, and before you know it, the version of them you saw every day has changed again. These moments deserve to be remembered too.

I know older kids may not always be thrilled about family photos at first, and maybe they complain a little more than they used to, but one day these images become so much bigger than a photoshoot. They become proof of a season that passed way too quickly. They become memories your family gets to hold onto long after life moves into the next chapter.

There is never going to be a “less busy” season to finally make the time. And I truly believe you will never regret having the photos. ✨

If you’ve been putting off booking updated family photos because life feels too busy right now, let this be your reminder that this season is worth documenting too. My fall calendar is open, and I would love to help you preserve these moments for your family 🤍

One of the biggest things that impacts the overall feel of your photos before I even start shooting… is styling. And not in a scary, “everything has to be perfect” kind of way..

What you wear truly helps shape the mood of your images. When outfits feel cohesive and coordinated, photos naturally feel softer, more emotional, and more elevated. Everything flows together visually, which allows the connection and emotion in your session to stand out even more.

On the other hand, when there are a lot of clashing colors, distracting patterns, or outfits that all pull attention in different directions, it can completely change the feeling of the final gallery. Even with beautiful light and a gorgeous location, styling plays such a huge role in creating those timeless, intentional images people are usually drawn to.

This is also one of the biggest reasons people can sometimes feel like their photos don’t quite match the inspiration they saved on Pinterest. Most of the time, it’s not the location or even the poses or anything your photographer has done…it’s the styling. The tones, textures, and colors people wear are a huge part of what creates that soft, cohesive feeling in photos.

An easy tip when planning outfits: if you already have a Pinterest board full of inspo, pay attention to the colors the couples are wearing in those images and try to copy that. That’s honestly one of the best places to start.

And truly, I know trying to figure out what to wear for photos can feel overwhelming. Most people are not putting together outfits for professional photos all the time, so of course it can feel stressful trying to make everything look good together while still feeling like yourself. That’s why I’m always happy to help my clients with styling guidance. I can help choose between outfit options, suggesting color palettes, helping coordinate outfits together, or even building inspiration boards to help bring the vision to life. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own, and having that extra guidance can make such a difference in how your photos feel in the end ✨

Thank you so much for all of the birthday wishes yesterday 🤍

One thing I kept getting asked all day while photographing a wedding was, “Why would you want to work on your birthday?” And honestly… when you truly love what you do, there’s nowhere else you’d rather be.

Getting to spend my birthday documenting one of the most important days of someone’s life didn’t feel like “work” to me. It felt like such a gift. I seriously love that this is what I get to call my job.

I’m so incredibly thankful for every single person who has supported me, trusted me, booked with me, shared my work, or encouraged me along the way. You’ve given me the opportunity to build a business around something I genuinely love with my whole heart.

So thank you for the birthday messages, and thank you to my clients for letting me spend my birthday celebrating alongside you. I truly couldn’t imagine spending it any other way 🤍

There are so many seasons of life that pass by before we even realize how quickly they’re changing. Engagement is one of them. It’s such a unique chapter, definitely one that is full of chaos with planning, but also one that is filled so much love and anticipation as you approach the wedding date. which is why I think it deserves to be documented for so much more than just announcements/save the dates or social media posts.

The older I get, the more I realize how much value photographs truly hold. Long after a season passes, photos are what bring you back to it. They become tangible reminders of the people you love, the life you were building, and the moments that would’ve otherwise faded with time. And honestly, I think we deserve to document our lives far more often than we do.

Because I believe that so deeply, I’ve been putting a lot of intention into creating a better experience for my clients behind the scenes. One thing I never want is for finances to be the reason someone misses out on documenting a season they’ll never get back. That’s why I’m so excited to finally be able to offer payment plan options through the new system I’ve been transitioning into. Making this experience more accommodating and accessible has been really important to me, because these memories matter.

If you’ve been thinking about booking a session, this is your sign to do it. You don’t need a “perfect” reason to preserve your life as it is right now. Reach out through the link in my bio to inquire about your session!!
