Hi all. I'm afraid I have to let you know that I will NOT be in attendance at the Bloom Artists Showcase at the Convention Center this Sunday April 23rd.

Unfortunately, life has a way of rearranging things, and I have found myself much occupied with some life matters which simply cannot wait. This has not allowed me to be prepared for the show which I was so looking forward to.

I hope you will go and support the artists for there are many oh so talented folks there.
I will hope for another opportunity like this is the future.

Full Moon today - I am always looking for different ways to photograph the moon - something a little unexpected. This moon today I have seen called the Worm Moon, this charge says it is the Storm Moon. Either way I would say it is heralding the arrival of Spring this month. Lots of spring flowers, bushes in bloom already in my area. Bird activity on the increase too. Just today I'm noticing flocks of robins, hearing them calling. Always a welcome sign for me!

Sunrise on a crisp March morning in Southern Indiana. My favorite time of day. Birds are calling, earth is waking up. Daffodils are in full bloom - you know Spring is right around the corner now. Time to think of new growth - planting seeds, and planting new ideas in your mind. -Winter is defiinitely oosening it's grip. Breathe deep and embrace this day. Time for a walk in nature

A look back in time today. Back in college, those long studio classes. This one is 3 ft x 5 ft. One of my professors required us to make our own stretcher bars. I made one and my dad laughed when I came to him, because I cut the quarter round trim at the wrong angle, darn it!
I remember working on this one. For years it has been with one brother and sister-in-law. Now it is back with me. When I look at it, I think of that time in my life. My favorite professor - Barry Gealt , so enthusiastic and positive. He would take us around campus. My favorite was probably the trip to the Indiana Memorial Union . With pastels in hand we visited the pool hall in the Union. (I don't think it is there anymore, sadly.) Great fun trying to capture the action.
I sometimes wonder where those pieces are. If I had to guess, I probably threw them away when moving time came.

Barn in Snow Painterly Photo. Top image is what the camera saw. Bottom image is how I envision it. Dreamy, white snow clinging to the branches of trees, the red of the barn popping against the background. Peaceful and serene. Something calming to enjoy in a home or office setting.

I took one of the heart in tree images and did a little bit of editing. I think I'm fairly happy with the outcome. I might try it in black and white too. I'm surprised by the details which come out when switching from color to black and white. It is a frun y journey. Very satisfying.

My yard, my neighbors yards. See the difference? Those leaves? Yes. This great post from Treehuggers says it all for me --
Keep in mind that fallen leaves are home to countless important insect larvae, butterfly pupae, and other small animals like frogs and toads that rely on the leaves for shelter and nourishment. When you're quick to rake them up, you destroy the animals' habitat. The longer the leaves remain untouched, along with any plants that are past their seasonal prime and have gone into winter hibernation, the greater those little critters' chances of survival. Furthermore, their presence provides food for birds in the spring.
So, much later, when flowers are popping through the leaf clutter, temperatures are rising, I will get out and rake up those leaves revealing the growth below! 🍁
