TURKEYBOY: "The DinΓ© (Navajo) people call the loud thunderous storms 'male' and also 'in-law chaser' storms. They're often fast moving and short lived storms. They are loud and rambunctious--like boys/men. Typically, when storms like these roll in, the in-laws are the first to leave to head out on the road. That's why they're called 'in-law chaser' storms.
In contrast, the drizzling rains with no thunder/lightning storms are referred to as 'female' storms. They take on female traits of being gentle and nurturing. Typically, they're slow moving storms and they go on and on, and on, and on, and on, and on...
