Shaye and Danny brought to life the kind of beauty, joy, and peace in matrimony that only comes when the Lord writes your love story. I learned during the speeches that their future spouse was prayed for and over from a very young age. God brought these two together; because of His plans and their family's steadfast prayers, they found the one their soul loves. Their friends and family surrounded them through the day - much the same as I imagine has been the case their whole lives - with love and support and prayer that was a blessing to see.

This work was done on behalf of .weddings for the couple and I am so incredibly grateful for the privilege of documenting their day. Over the last few years, I've been gifted the opportunity to photograph and be a part of dozens of weddings - all of which I count myself blessed because of. And I'm sure it's the same for my peers: some wedding days live rent free in our hearts - but, for me, Shaye and Danny's day is cherished in my top 5.

She checked her gallery every day in anticipation.

Every. Day.

For. Weeks.

I panicked when I first saw the user activity details...

I felt guilty - "I took too long; I should have edited 'round the clock; I didn't send a preview..."

I was worried - "she's upset it's taken this long; I haven't gotten a text checking in - what if they hate it because of the wait or how I shot this session versus last time?"

But, thankfully, I was uploading the final gallery when I saw what she had been doing and the anxiety and thoughts were fleeting. I shoved them aside. The work was done and her waiting was over.

I took a deep breath and sent the gallery off.

Now my waiting game began...

5+ hours passed going about my morning + photographing a micro-wedding.
*Crickets* 🫠
My wedding ended and I returned to cell service.
4 email notifications: Your gallery has been viewed. Images downloaded. Products added to cart. Order placed.

*Queue half-hearted relief on bated breath*

I chanced a text: *insert fav pic* "Happy Monday 💌"

Instant + Total Relief: "Vera, they’re so, so beautiful 🥹❤️ Just ordered a ton of copies and a book... I was just super excited and the wait was so worth it.... I’ve been diligently checking the album with excitement so this made my morning. UGH. Thank you again ❤️"

*Hangs hat on a job well done*
Even if you don't end up ordering all the images for prints and a 20-page keepsake album - I hope the wait is well worth it and what we captured together moves and impacts you in some way. What I do is for you.

Reminder: do something fun and *you* for your session. Don't be afraid to ask or think it's not worth it. Trust me: it is. We grabbed coffee after the In-Home portion of their session because that's what they did at that time of day. It was fun, simple, and memorable. Worth. It.

*Deep, contented sigh 🥹🥰 A review or statement about my work once it's delivered is something I shouldn't necessarily crave or expect. But as a servant-hearted girl, I sincerely hope that what I do checks all the 'photography boxes', but that it, more importantly, allows you to look back on a time in your life that meant a whole lot to you - for whatever reason - and it brings joy through the hard times.

I want you to have something to hold on to when that sweet newborn decides that nighttime is the new daytime, when you're lucky to clock 5 hours of (consecutive) sleep, when the 0-3 onesies are packed away, when bottles giveaway to solids, when the tiny coos are now babbles turning into words, when they take their first steps, or when you're waving them off to their first day of school and you think, "How did we get here? Where did the time go?".

I hope you've taken the time to slow down and make the memories and preserved them somehow: take your own pictures or videos with your phone, or hire someone to document the things you love and capture all the feelings of the moment for you to smile (or cry those happy tears) over.

A summer evening stroll through the garden and an escape to a faraway place in a favorite book. What's not to love or cherish for a lifetime?

Your family photos don't have to be the squeeze-together-and-smile-while-standing-perfectly-still to be memorable and special. They can be messy and creative, fun and cheerful, slow and simple, backyard burgers and bubbles, chalk drawings in the driveway with popsicles, fresh baked cookies in the kitchen, playing at your favorite playground, looking through Grandma's photo album on the front porch - whatever you want.

Go beyond the trends and the stuffy poses. Do life with your family in the ways and places that make this season sweet and special and have someone take your picture doing THAT with THEM. It'll mean so much more to you now and to them later. I promise.

The Zanabria family spent the morning strolling along in a field, picking wildflowers, and admiring the trees as a cheerful L snuggled and giggled with both her mom and dad. It was the kind of session where the minutes rolled by uncounted but fully felt and full of joy - easy and laid back yet beautiful and sweet.

Grateful for the clients who come back to me again and again. Sharing little pieces of your lives is so precious to me and I don't take your investment or trust for granted.

Post "We Do" feels are some of my absolute favorite moments to capture. The raw emotions of the day... of the moment... of the future are fully felt and on beautiful, unabashed display. Pure bliss and excitement; solemn and quiet peace; giddy laughter; the sweetest of tears... All rolled into the aftermath of pledging your forever to each other.

Last night's wedding had me in my feels over the tremendous honor, privilege, and delight I have in photographing weddings. It doesn't matter the size, the location, or the budget - I want to be there for all of emotion and moments planned and expected and spontaneous. I want to immortalize the shift from what was into what now is and the hope it carries for the couples I am so blessed to work for and with.

One of my favorite places in North Georgia to use for sessions is in Dawsonville. The owner / master Gardener has transformed the landscape from a plain old horse pasture to a wildflower field, banished the mix-mash of grass from the front lawn and cultivated a myriad of flowers and herbs, and nurtured the back lawn into a peaceful rolling hill bordered by a calming stream. Taking my clients here feels like an absolute treat for the senses and makes our time together just a little more magical.

This beautiful mama and her precious little are actually family but no less effortless in letting their bond shine through. We let the moments be led by her little and we basked in her wonder and delight. The flowers, the honey bees, the butterflies, and even the newly ripened strawberries held her intrigue for the sweetest smiles and curious fascination. Nothing was forced or rushed. Everything unfolded like a secret garden fairytale.
