The Owl Nebula and Surfboard Galaxy

This is one of my favorite pairings of objects in the night sky. The owl is a planetary nebula (dying star) within our own galaxy while the surfboard galaxy lies 32 million light years away.

🔭The Rosette Nebula✨

One of the shots I managed to get while learning my new equipment and software. Finding the right techniques to process the stars correctly is proving challenging, something that will come with time.

I'm quite enjoying how much easier getting decent colors is going from DSS and PS to mostly just SIRIL. Moving from NINA back to APT has removed almost all of the demoralizing bugs with the iOptron CEM25P and Canon 200D. The only main issue that l'm still fighting is the constant dec backlash of over 100ms on the mount.

Got to cross totality off my bucket list this year!

A few weeks of planning went into this. The 830 mile round trip returned 75 GB of data and plenty of lasting memories.

These are some single frames here with some light processing. Working on an HDR composite along with a few time lapses in white light and h-alpha.
