Gothard Photography

Gothard Photography A selection of photo gifts, wood, metal, glass and canvas prints highlighting the beauty of the Centennial State and beyond.

Gothard Photography (GP) is a small family-run business based near the old gold rush town of Black Hawk in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We produce a selection of custom photographic gifts -- including glass, wood and metal prints, photo slates, and greetings cards -- that showcase the beauty of the Colorado Front Range, the Centennial State and beyond. Customers may order our unique gifts through

our website, via our page, or can drop in to our studio overlooking Golden Gate Canyon State Park. We provide rights managed, stock, and freelance photographic services for our commercial clients as well as pet photography and event photography services (*). Our company has provided photographic services for Denver-based Lincoln Hills Cares since 2017. The latter provides outdoor education and recreation, environmental and cultural history connections, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education. Gothard Photography's freelance work has been featured in a number of national and international publications as well as by local media outlets including the The Mercury News (California), The Denver Post, The Mountain-Ear and The Weekly Register Call (Colorado's oldest newspaper.) In addition our work has been featured at a number of local venues including The Englewood Public Library, The Washington Gallery in Central City, The Nederland Area Chamber and Visitors Center, The Art House of Nederland and The Argo Mine & Mill in Idaho Springs. GP is operated by an expat Brit Julian Gothard, a freelance writer and photographer who was born in Singapore, has lived in Germany, England and the USA, and who has traveled extensively in Europe and North America, including the Bahamas, Canada and Mexico. (*) Gothard Photography does not offer any studio, portrait or wedding photography services.

We have had 6 different bears in 4 days which is something of a record. Mom came by a few times last year.

The Nizhoni riding program at Lincoln Hills Cares is the oldest of any program currently operated by that organisation. It teaches young women all of the skills required to be a fully rounded equestrian from tack and saddle to riding and equine care.

The program - under the expert direction of Ruby Myles - is free to participants: https://www.lincolnhillscares.org/nizhoni-equestrian-program

Well, it's been a while with multiple surgeries for the better half last year, the loss of two dogs and my poor old mum having back, neck and knee issues so she only managed one visit from across the pond with us last year. As a result my photography Facebook posting has been erratic to say the least which is a pity as we've had plenty of visits from Moose, Deer, Black Bears, and Coyotes up above Black Hawk which I really should have posted.

Anyway I'm back shooting pictures for Lincoln Hills Cares this year (with thanks to Jeanette and Tim at LHC). This is a capture of Patches with a young lass during a visit from the Young Men of Alpha on Saturday.

LHC runs a dedicated equestrian program - now under the management of Ruby - which provides training in a variety of equestrian skills from tack and saddle to equine care and horsemanship. I believe it's a free program and I'd encourage those who might be interested to reach out directly to Lincoln Hills Cares,
