Morgan + Jackson had a little rain, a little mountain magic, and a whole lot of love.

After a morning of watching the skies and wondering if the ceremony would have to move indoors, the clouds cleared, the weather turned absolutely beautiful, and even the elk decided to make an appearance.

It was one of those Colorado wedding days that felt almost too good to be true. The kind where everything falls into place, the celebration feels effortless, and you can just FEEL how loved two people are.

Morgan and Jackson were so incredibly in love, and getting to witness the joy surrounding them all weekend was something special.

Still soaking in every bit of this beautiful weekend and feeling so grateful to have been part of such an incredible team that brought it all to life. What a celebration!!

Few things compare to opening an inbox full of film scans from a wedding you wish you could relive.

The kind of day where every detail was intentional, every moment felt effortless, and you knew before the film was even developed that it was going to be something special.

There’s a certain romance to seeing a wedding through film. The grain, the color, the imperfections. A beautiful reminder that some moments are better felt than perfected.

Your photographer’s energy matters way more than you might think.

This is the person who is going to be with you for basically your entire wedding day. They’re there in the quiet moments while you’re getting ready, when the nerves start kicking in, when the timeline gets a little chaotic, when you need someone to tell you what to do with your hands, and when the dance floor finally gets wild.

So when you’re choosing your wedding photographer, don’t JUST ask yourself, “Do I love their photos?”

Ask yourself, “What kind of energy do I want around me on my wedding day?” “How long have they been in the industry, and what is their experience with anything that might be thrown their way?!

If you want someone who can read the room, knows when to step in and when to disappear into the background, can put you at ease when you’re stressed, hype you up when you need it, wrangle your family with a smile, and then drop it low with you on the dance floor…

My approach to wedding photography has always lived somewhere between documentary and editorial. I want to let the day unfold honestly, while still creating photographs that feel intentional, artful, and worthy of living on your walls for decades.

Candid when it matters. A little direction when you need it. Editorial without losing the emotion.

That’s the sweet spot for me.

There’s something about the cake cutting that I’ll never get tired of photographing.

It’s one of those little wedding traditions that can so easily feel like “just another thing on the timeline,” but it almost always turns into one of my favorite parts of the night.

Everyone gathers around, the formalities are pretty much over, somebody inevitably gets icing on their face, and for a few minutes it just feels playful and completely unplanned. Those are the moments I’m always looking for.

And on film?! Even better!!

The movement, the imperfect frames, the flash, the grain, the way film holds onto the warmth of the room. It makes a moment that already feels nostalgic somehow feel like a memory the second it happens.

My approach as an editorial wedding photographer is always a mix of creating something beautiful while leaving room for the real stuff to happen. A little editorial, a little documentary, and a whole lot of whatever the day actually feels like.

Who knew you could find a little piece of what feels like Europe right in Tuscaloosa, Alabama?!?

Anna and Marion’s day was SUCH a dream to photograph. They wanted that perfect mix of real, candid moments with a little bit of an editorial edge, which is basically my favorite combination ever. Let the day actually happen, let people be themselves, and then give me a few minutes to make some art in between it all.

And this venue!!! Truly such a creative playground for me. Every corner felt like another opportunity to play with light, composition, movement, and all the little details that made their day feel like them.

Days like this are exactly why, even after 10 years of photographing weddings, I still get so freaking excited about what I get to do. Give me beautiful architecture, people who trust me, a little room to get weird and creative, and a wedding that feels like the couple over following every tradition. I’m in!!!

Engagement photos at Otter Creek Farm & Distillery with Gracie and Memphis on Film and digital🤠

The fields, the boots, the golden light… the whole evening was giving Yellowstone in the best possible way. A little western, a little romantic, a little wild, and effortlessly cool.

Otter Creek is already one of my favorite Alabama wedding venues, but getting to slow down and explore the property for an engagement session felt extra special. Give me a couple who wants their photos to feel cinematic, lived in, and completely like them and I’m in my element.

Basically, if Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler had engagement photos in Alabama, I’d like to think they’d look a little something like this. 🐎
