I’ve been trying to take a different approach to editing lately. Instead of focusing on the gallery as a whole and worrying about the color and exposure being consistent throughout, I’ve been looking at photos individually and focusing on how the edits make me feel. One might make me feel bright and happy, another could might make me feel comfort and melancholy, and some can make me feel tenderness and serenity. Of course I still want my galleries to look consistent but not consistent in terms of colors but consistent in focusing on emotions and feelings because that’s what I want my photos to convey: real emotions of the subjects in each photograph. I hope you can see that more in my work from now on ❤️

Here’s my advice to you as a documentary style wedding photographer: Feel and express your emotions on your wedding day. If you want to laugh, laugh. If you want to cry, cry. If you want to hold their hand, hold their hand. Express yourself and don’t suppress any of your emotions. These are the moments that will truly speak to you and your loved ones. As a photographer, I promise you these photos are the ones that always look the most beautiful because we get to capture real human emotions. So remember on your wedding day: take a breath, look around, be present, observe, take in every moment, and feel.
