Hmm...Social media. I'm not good at it. I always have intentions of posting updates, photos, etc. But life happens, and as much as I am glad not to be glued to social media, I also desire to become more active and connected on my photography page. So how about starting with an introduction...(First of all, this photo was taken by Gary Luce, whom I consider to be THE best photographer in all of the land.)
I am a photographer because...I can't paint or draw. Not even a stick figure, really. I always wanted to paint. I fully understand line, shape, space, value, form, texture, color theory, highlights and shadow, and I see those things in everyday life. They are the things I tend to notice and focus on (sometimes instead of what I am "supposed" to be paying attention to.) Anyway, It was always frustrating that I couldn't place these things together in a painting. Somewhere along the way I discovered that with photography, you don't have to draw the subject. The form is already there. I can now just apply what I know about art to the subject, and turn THAT into art. And that is incredibly satisfying. I crave it like sugar. Yeah. So anyway...
