A major piece of railroad history in Appalachia, Virginia has met its fate of being torn down. The old L&N depot stood for many years even after no longer being operational.

Lonesome Pine Model RR Club at one time was paying insurance on it in hopes to be a future home for them. That never transpired due to the depot being in the middle of the Norfolk Southern wye and the railroad wouldn't grand access across the tracks. At least that is what the story is I have heard over the years.

In the past years it has been "home" to homeless and drug addicts. The doors and windows were boarded up but that still didn't stop some from entering this old depot.
