I’m going to step out of my typical “box” that I like to stay in for the most part, because I’ve been hearing something’s floating around. I’m going to try to keep this post as short, and classy as I possibly may can bc if you know me ya know. Bare with me here…
Being a photographer is far from “EASY”. I have been capturing memories for individuals and families for over 20 years in and out of studio. (22 to be exact) I have seen a lot, shared a lot, heard a lot, gained friendships, witnessed new life, watched growth, lost money, and sweet clients along the way, you name it!!! I have also worked on sessions when I myself was having a hard time in life going through a lot, but you would have never known bc that’s my job!
One thing I have NEVER done in my career is talk down on ANY ONE. Not clients, not colleagues, not other photographers or individuals who peruse photography and don’t pan out, you get it… another thing I have NEVER done is try the “get rich” scheme on anyone.
My prices are and have always been VERY fair. I travel most sessions which cost me money, gas, time away from my family, etc. I also spend HOURS and some times DAYS editing sessions to provide my clients with the BEST version of their sessions. Another cost for equipment & time away from my family. Typically out more money than paid. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on equipment. I remember my first camera back in 2004 (body alone no lense) was $1500 out the door at Best Buy… I’ve had accidents where they have been dropped and broken in the middle of sessions, cake has gotten into lenses and messed things up, you name it… lol. BUT in TRUE photographer means I have managed to carry through the sessions with some type of back up plan to provide the best possible outcome.
I have a full time job (I am also a hair dresser for those who aren’t aware,) and I’m raising the last of our 3 children (out of 7) along side of my full time job, my children, and my husband who was traveling for work in the oilfield until 5 years ago but now has a shift work job, I also have 7 grand children in the mix that I love to be with and devote time, love, and energy to. This being said, I have really only been doing sessions on a “as needed” basis and I have return clients that know I will STOP all that I’m doing to make time for them. I am so thankful and blessed for and with y’all! ❤️
I’m not posting to tell my clients anything other than THANK YOU for being you, and for trusting f in me always! What I am posting for is to let ANYONE who speaks poorly on me or my work know that YOU are simply the PROBLEM. If you are a photographer (a legit photographer) we all know that not everyone is going to clique with everyone and that’s simply ok, but NEVER should you EVER downgrade one another. There are PLENTY of clients out there for everyone and if you aren’t their first choice, I can guarantee I’m NOT the reason.
Closing out on this… praying you all have the best life, yes even those out to try and knock back…
❤️ Heather
