There’s just something about girlhood at 10. 🤍
I got to photograph my daughter and four of her best friends together, and somewhere between the giggling, the inside jokes, the silliness and the complete inability to take anything seriously for more than about 30 seconds 😂, I found myself thinking… I hope they get to stay right here for a little while.
Ten feels like such a sweet spot.
Old enough for these friendships to really mean something, but still young enough to be completely themselves. To laugh way too loud. To be weird and silly and carefree. To throw their arms around each other without thinking twice. To not worry about being cool or looking perfect.
As their photographer, I love these pictures.
But as a mom, I think I love what they captured even more.
Five little girls who have no idea yet how special this time in their lives really is. The kind of friendships where you laugh until your stomach hurts, make up ridiculous games, tell each other everything and somehow turn an ordinary afternoon into the best day ever.
The world will ask them to grow up soon enough.
For now, I hope they stay silly.
I hope they stay innocent.
I hope they keep laughing too loud.
I hope they always have girlfriends who make them feel completely free to be themselves.
And I hope someday, when they’re much older, they look at these pictures and remember exactly what it felt like to be 10.
What a beautiful thing it is to get to witness girlhood up close.
And what a privilege it is to photograph it.
Moms, thank you for sharing your girls with me for this, for raising strong and confident daughters, and for supporting each other as we navigate this phase.
