ℍ𝕒𝕡𝕡𝕪 𝕃𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕣 𝔻𝕒𝕪!
When we consider Labor Day, we think of tradesmen, builders, and hard workers who take pride in their craft. A good carpenter isn’t ashamed of his work, because he knows how meticulous he was in doing it. He made his plans, measured twice, cut once, and built something solid.
The Apostle Paul actually uses this exact imagery in 2 Timothy 2:15. "𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙, 𝙖 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙙, 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝."
Paul is instructing Timothy to be a master craftsman with his use of the Gospel. “𝙍𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜” literally means to "𝙘𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩." In the Greek, the word is “𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼” (from 𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼́𝘀 = right, standing upright, continuing in a straight direction, + 𝘁𝗲́𝗺𝗻𝗼 = cut or divide). This means to make a straight cut, cut straight as a craftsman cutting a straight line, farmer plowing a straight furrow, mason setting a straight line of bricks, or workmen building a straight road.
Paul is telling Timothy to be a master craftsman with the Gospel. Paul surely knew how important "cutting straight" was for sure. As a tentmaker by trade, the tent material HAD to be cut straight otherwise the tent would not come together properly. The clear message for Timothy and all of us is that it is crucial to be diligent with the Word of God.
Being diligent with God’s Word takes work, hard work. It requires digging deep, wrestling with the tough texts and understanding what God is saying in His Word. But the beauty of the Gospel is that we are approved in Christ, even now.
However, we are debtors to Christ for what He has done for us, so we should 𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗧 to handle the Word rightly. Not to justify ourselves, but to 𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗥 the King who saved us and preserved sound doctrine. (𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘐 𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘈𝘓𝘓 𝘖𝘝𝘌𝘙 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘛𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘭 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴.)
Rest well from your physical jobs and labor on this day, but take some time to evaluate your 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗟 labor. As yourself, “𝘼𝙢 𝙄 𝙥𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙣 𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙?”

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱’𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿
Taking the Lord’s Supper this morning at church was a powerful time of reflection, as always. It is very humbling to pause and examine oneself deeply in light of the scripture telling us to do so. Confessing hidden sin, making sure that as a body of believers we have no bitterness towards each other, and making sure our trust and faith is firmly resting on Jesus.
We realize and are reminded each time that we bring nothing to the table but our sin. Just as in our salvation, we bring nothing but our sin and all the components of salvation belong to God. We do nothing to earn it.
We refer to this sacrament as "The Lord's Supper," which emphasizes 𝙬𝙝𝙤 gave it to us and 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 we are remembering. The bread and the cup are visual reminders of the perfect righteousness and incredible gift of salvation provided by our Savior, Jesus Christ.
𝙇𝙚𝙩 𝙖 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙢𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤 𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙪𝙥. -1 Corinthians 11:28

Ｗｈａｔ＇ｓ ｕｐ， ｅｖｅｒｙｏｎｅ．
Yesterday, I was talking to a fellow photographer friend about where I was with my camera five years ago compared to where I am today.
With the J.D. Spencer Photography business pretty much closed, my life has changed somewhat, especially with my camera! I am now shooting images and video projects basically to help support my YouTube channel, Faith and Photos. I am totally enjoying the mission of my channel which is to make much of our God, and to serve as a ministry of encouragement and education for those who are also walking this journey as believers.
I still shoot and bring in a few dollars from time to time, which helps me cover the apps I use in video production or pick up a piece of equipment here and there.
But the feeling behind the lens has completely changed. It’s therapeutic. It brings me joy, relaxation, and happiness, and it is a totally different experience than shooting straight business for clients.
The pictures you see in this post belong in one of two categories: Faith and Photos inspirational posts, or some of the recent photographic and videography work I’ve enjoyed doing lately.
It is so different now, not shooting solely for business, for clients. Now, it is more like my camera and equipment are tools of ministry.

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝔹𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕠𝕗 𝕒 𝔹𝕚𝕓𝕝𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕝 ℂ𝕙𝕦𝕣𝕔𝕙

This. 𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑦 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑢𝑠. This is our church family. A set of brothers and sisters in Christ, from all kinds of backgrounds, all unique in their personalities, but yet such a unified group of believers who take “being the church” to be something worthy of deep consideration.
Lindsay has found such meaningful friendships with the ladies. She has entrenched herself in the women’s ministry and it is so good to see her deepen in her faith.
My time with the church has been filled with learning so many things from them. Iron sharpens iron conversations have challenged me to think deeper biblically and walk it out more seriously. The brothers hold me accountable to the beliefs we share, the family God has blessed me with, my incredible wife, Lindsay, and most of all, our thrice-holy God.
A few years ago, we found ourselves looking for a place to worship, with seemingly no idea of where we would go. Lindsay knew the pastor, Kevin, and his wife, Beth. I had heard him preach once and was interested in his depth of expository preaching of the word. We decided to visit with them one Sunday and from that first Sunday we knew. It was home for us. Kevin from St. Lucia and is a godly man and a dear brother in Christ. I am so glad he's my pastor.
I can't conceive of living this life without a church family like these folks.

🤯𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗪 𝗨𝗣...🔥
Back a few weeks ago, I posted here on Facebook about a certain lyric from a worship song that honestly, I don't care for. I put it on a meme I made which asked "Chapter and Verse??
Most of the responses were gracious, even from those who disagreed with me. (𝘼𝙨 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨.) But the reaction from 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 (𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡, 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪) was very different- name-calling, personal attacks, and comments I had to hide.
In this video, I want to ask a question the church needs to wrestle with: 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨?? 🤷🏻‍♂️
The Bereans in Acts 17:11 were called "noble" for testing the Apostle Paul against Scripture. 𝙄𝙛 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙚, 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜?

𝗛𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀
Mountains are often seen as a symbol of enduring strength. In my own mind, I have always loved the mountains. Their large size, towering over all, the heavy weightiness of their image in the eye of the beholder, it all is so ultimately breathtaking for me.
And when pondering their very existence, I am struck with the fact that they are a creation. A creation, mind you, of someone who Himself towers above all this vast expanse of mountain ranges, the depths of the ocean, and even the expanse of this universe.
Yes, 𝗺𝘆 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗛𝗲. He is the One who designed and then created all that we behold on this beautiful blue sphere we live upon. 𝙄𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙃𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨!

Nature and God's handiwork in creation have always been a profound witness to me. When I look around and behold the beauty of the world he has created, it is impossible not to see that He is powerful, masterful, and the only One worthy of our worship and praise.
As we start this new week, may we all be reminded of His sovereignty and that He alone is worthy of all glory and praise.

𝐌𝐲 𝐏𝐈𝐎 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬...
I am sharing this article and graphic because it is an important conversation the church needs to have about very crucial issues. 𝑯𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒐𝒇𝒇, 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒄𝒓𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓.
𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕, 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒆: As a law enforcement officer, I believe strongly in protecting the vulnerable. I am unapologetically tough on the abuse of children and adults alike. Those who commit these horrible crimes should face arrest and the best efforts of our justice system. Church discipline should be a given. No excuses, no cover-ups, and absolutely no dismissals.
𝑯𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒚 𝒇𝒍𝒂𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔. As a Public Information Officer for a law enforcement agency, I deal with verified facts and due process. However, this data base carelessly lumps official and verified criminal records of convictions of perpetrators into the same space with unverified information about current pastors and other personnel. Social media rumors or passing mentions in news articles… with zero distinction between these. It throws names into a public “abuse database” and then admittedly says they “don’t do their own investigations.” The burden is placed on the individual to speak up and point out the error, and then admittedly says they only have about 5 people working the database so it may take some time removing flawed information!!
𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒚. 𝑰𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒌𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔. It bypasses the evidentiary standards that is required for real justice… the standards that the law enforcement world uses for good reasons.
𝑨𝒔 𝒂 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉. We are commanded to pursue justice. But, true biblical justice is rooted in truth and diligence. It is so disturbing to know that this is lumping the guilty together with those who may have been mentioned in a controversy or in a news article. This undermines the accountability that it proports to seek.
I Timothy 5:19 gives us a very clear biblical standard for church leadership. "𝑫𝒐 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒊𝒕 𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔."
I submit to you that an unvetted database, with unverified information, treats hearsay as official record and that does not honor the truth. We can, and must, be advocates for victims of abuse and totally intolerant of abuse, while simultaneously demanding that the public record reflects verified truth rather than what amounts to supposition.
This database idea, while it has promise, needs 𝑺𝑬𝑹𝑰𝑶𝑼𝑺 𝑾𝑶𝑹𝑲 and in my opinion should be immediately suspended until it can contain ONLY verified information. I would also recommend separating offenders’ records from other records. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
One more note… and I see this from media quite often in my job. This “headline” placed on Church Leaders’ graphic is misleading as well. I am sure it’s getting attention and clicks, but is THAT the way to get them?? The information in their article is good and worth reading... but that headline is very misleading.

🙏𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 🎥

But through all the learning curves, one thing has remained constant and unchanging: a burning desire to proclaim the Gospel to a world that desperately needs Him, and to uplift His name here on Facebook and over on YouTube.

𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵 5 𝘈𝘔, 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩-𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵.
It is difficult to fully capture the weight of the responsibilities of law enforcement officers in these tense moments for those outside the profession, but the dangers are very real. The level of detailed planning, coordination, teamwork, and the reliance on one another is truly next-level.
As I prayed over the team, I was reminded of 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗻, and how 𝗚𝗼𝗱’𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 was obviously with them when they went out into battle. This morning I prayed for that same providential guidance and protection-not just for our team members, but that the suspects would also be kept free from harm.
Praise God, the operation was successful. Personnel from four different agencies worked together smoothly, and the suspects were taken into custody without incident.
Words cannot express how blessed I am to be able to lift up His name and ask our 𝗦𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 for protection over my blue family. My friends, in everything we do, let us continue to honor the 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 and 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀. Let us pray for His providence and protection as we face the uncertainty of the days ahead in this time.

Consider the uncertainty of life for Joshua after the death of Moses, the great leader of the children of Israel. God commissions Joshua to lead the people, and gives him these words:
𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙄 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪? 𝘽𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙤𝙪𝙨. 𝘿𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙙, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙊𝙍𝘿 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙤. -Joshua 1:9
