Walking through an antique shop yesterday, I was struck that all this stuff is like a museum of things people have left behind. Every watch, chair, and piece of china was once someone's prized possession, possibly meant to be passed down to family. But eventually, many physical things end up on a shelf with a price tag.

It got me thinking about the kind of legacy that actually lasts, you know, what we REALLY need to leave behind that make a lasting difference.

When I look at my own children and grandchildren, I realize the most valuable thing I can leave them isn't anything I can buy or make. Itโ€™s the truth of the Gospel. It's an inheritance of faith.

Antiques gather dust, some are worthless, some are exceptionally cool and have some value. But declaring Godโ€™s faithfulness, His grace, and His mighty acts to the next generation, that is an inheritance that never loses its priceless value.

Every time I look through the lens at a scene like this, it's a vivid reminder that the heavens are declaring the glory of our Sovereign God.

Growing up out in the country in Northwest Mississippi, I spent a lot of my time in the woods or sitting on the bank of ๐Œ๐ซ. ๐“๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐‘๐ก๐จ๐๐ž๐ฌ' pond with a fishing pole in my hand, and two more stuck in the mud around the pond. Those catfish never stood a chance! It was in those days that I just naturally developed a love for God's creation.

Swinging on the vines in our woods, finding a little spring on my dad's land and feeling how cold the water was coming out of it, walking through the golden sage grass in the local pastures... it was all so incredible to me as a kid.

When Dad would take us on vacations to the Ozarks or the Smoky Mountains, I found myself completely captivated by the beauty and majesty of Godโ€™s creation. I loved the mountains!

I never could wrap my mind around how anyone could say there is no God. To me, every mountain stream, every creature, the gold sage grass in the pastures, the deep blue sky, and every plant seemed to glorify the Creator and testify to His existence. Itโ€™s a conviction that has only grown stronger over the years.

Today, looking through my camera feels like an extension of those childhood moments. Photography isn't just about capturing light, shadow, and composition; itโ€™s a way of intentionally pausing to frame the incredible beauty of Godโ€™s handiwork. Godโ€™s majesty is on full display every time the shutter captures an image.

Being a believer and a negotiator, I have often thought about the intersection of those aspects of my life, especially when it comes to speaking with a non-believer about the Gospel of Jesus.

Not because I am trying to "close a sale," but because of how we are called to engage the person across from us.

Here are 3 aspects of negotiating drawn from this verse that apply directly to how we share Christ:

๐Ÿ. ๐๐ฅ๐š๐ฒ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‹๐จ๐ง๐  ๐†๐š๐ฆ๐ž (๐‡๐š๐ฏ๐ž ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž) Rushing a negotiation usually kills it. The subject we speak to will not feel the rapport that we are trying to build. The proverb tells us that even a powerful ruler can be persuaded with patience.

In evangelism, we often feel a pressing burden to get someone from total unbelief to repentance quickly, like in a single conversation. But because we know that salvation rests entirely in God's sovereign timing and grace, we don't have to rely on high-pressure sales tactics. We can afford to be patient, plant the seed faithfully, and trust the Lord of the harvest to give the growth.

After all, salvation is HIS work, not a result of our work.

๐Ÿ. In a tense negotiation, a raised voice or a combative tone tends to immediately shuts down the conversation.

A "soft tongue" doesn't mean watering down the truth of the gospel; it means delivering the weighty truth of our sin and Christ's sacrifice with profound humility and love. We are just beggars telling others where we found bread. When we bathe our words in prayer, love, gentleness and respect, it disarms defensiveness and keeps the door open for the gospel.

๐Ÿ‘. ๐Ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‡๐š๐ซ๐ ๐Ž๐›๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ (๐๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ค๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐จ๐ง๐ž) A bone is rigid, stubborn, and unyielding, much like the natural human heart hardened by sin. You would think it takes a hammer to break a bone, but the proverb says a soft tongue does it.

We don't break through hard, intellectual objections or stony hearts by arguing louder or debating harder. We persistently, gently hold forth the Word of God, trusting the Holy Spirit to do the miraculous work of replacing a heart of stone with a heart of flesh.

Remember, salvation is HIS work, not a result of our work.

We aren't called to win arguments or even to be successful; we are called to be faithful, patient witnesses, and allow God to use us as He sees fit.

The Southern Baptist Convention is tackling a major issue this week:

Although the Baptist Faith and Message clearly states that the office of pastor is limited to men, some SBC churches actually have women serving in that role right now.

When looking at the text, the Bible outlines the qualifications of a pastor as male in several places. For example, 1 Timothy 3:2 states that an overseer must be "the husband of one wife," which aligns with the qualifications for elders laid out in Titus 1 and the broader biblical design for church leadership.

And yet, some denominations have claimed that other places in Scripture, often pointing to verses like Galatians 3:28 or the presence of female fellow workers in the early church, or that the risen Christ appeared to a woman first, allow for women to pastor.

I have very solid ideas on the subject, but I am curious as to what my followers think. How do you weigh the biblical texts on this issue?

I know this is considered a "secondary" issue in the church, but it is a serious issue. It is also a very counter-cultural idea that rubs many people the wrong way. So at the risk of upsetting the apple cart, I am interested in what YOU think.

Before he spoke, we had a great conversation and he mentioned that he's been reading a lot from the book of Proverbs lately. I told him how fitting that was, as I had just opened the conference on Wednesday morning with a prayer and a verse from Proverbs that perfectly describes what we do as negotiators:
Proverbs 25:15
Kevin went on to speak to our conference, sharing the struggles and triumphs in his life. He mentioned his faith in God several times throughout his speech before closing with a powerful passage from Romans. He is a very nice guy, incredibly down-to-earth, and I really enjoyed both our chat and his message.

Biblical Christianity is rapidly becoming more and more counter-cultural. We are witnessing an erosion of moral conviction, with many seeking "workarounds" to God's commands in the name of being "loving" just to maintain the world's acceptance.
It is genuinely heartbreaking to watch family and friends turn from Godโ€™s design. The pressure to become accepted in social circles is a real struggle to some. Yet, Christ's call demands our steadfast and unwavering allegiance:
-Luke 14:26
Our devotion to Christ must be an outgrowth of Him being Lord of our lives. Even when forced to choose family members, community, and God, our obedience to our thrice-holy God is a definite non-negotiable.

While the shifting culture is disheartening, it is a direct fulfillment of Scripture. Christ calls us to a level of devotion that truly defines his place in our lives above everyone else:
-Luke 9:62
We must not look back. I pray for those who struggle with these things. I pray their faith will grow and they will choose to stand courageously on Godโ€™s Word and embrace the One who gave Himself on the cross at Calvary.
I pray that all of us will stand firm and unwavering until the day of His appearing. Come soon, Lord Jesus.

For some people, they will read this and be all upset. Those people, in my opinion, need to go read Hebrews 1:1-2 and study it closely.
