Colorado's state flower in yellow.
I've always liked how orchid-like they are. When you come across a remote high altitude meadow above tree line, covered in gorgeous blue and purple columbines, you don't forget it.

I caught this just sitting in a sliver of sunlight. It needed very little editing even in camera .raw. So I kept it uncompressed in a .tif file for posting.

Years ago, in a photography class at the New York Institute of Photography, this was one of my favorite assignment results. Lol, I liked it more than the teacher did, but that's okay. It was a turning point; instead of just photographing natural things, I started capturing photos with artistic impressions, compositions and color in mind.
