This was all done in-camera. No photoshop! No AI! It’s a four light setup with a prism filter attached to the end of my lens for blur, and an optical snoot for the blinds/sliver effect on the model’s face. We shot multiple looks, some with the optical snoot & blur. This series was shot in front of a Primary Red seamless colored background from Savage Universal () using four different DigiBees from Paul C. Buff () with blue colored gels attached and all independently controlled with The Raven from (). One of the DigiBee strobes had an optical snoot attached with a blue colored gel and a “blinds” and “slot” gobo used as the keylight, and all shot with my Nikon Z6ii from ().

I love creative shoots, and this EP cover shoot with artist Prince Gemin! was so fun and creative! Prince creates music which has influences from R&B and Alternative Rock, and this concept was for his new EP “High at the Disco” which drops TODAY! For the EP cover art, we did a mix of hypercolor at my studio in Berkeley, along with some motion blur that was all done in-camera (not Photoshop) by leaving the shutter open 1.3 seconds in total and having Prince stay very still as I moved. I really loved the creative concept that Prince envisioned, and the motion blur hitting his mask created a beautiful almost “galaxy” effect on that first shot! Lighting was a four light setup with four different DigiBees with assorted colored gels from Paul C. Buff () independently controlled with The Raven from (). Had a separate green and gold kicker lights along with a gold keylight and optional strobe with a snoot hitting just his mask. Shot these with my Nikon Z6ii () in front of a black seamless backdrop from Savage Universal ().

Had a fantastic shoot a short time ago with music producer Michael Leathers () who came by my studio for some fun/creative hypercolor shots. As everyone can tell, I love shooting with gels, and Michael is fantastic to shoot with. We did a few different color combos and lighting changes, and I had a blast. Here are a few where I killed the key light for a low-key rim-lighting effect, and it really makes the kicker gels pop. Shot these with my Nikon Z6ii () and five different various DigiBees with assorted colored gels from Paul C. Buff (). Shot in front of the Teal or Primary Red colored seamless backdrop from Savage Universal ()

How about some more fashion? Here is another from my shoot with Stuti, where we shot headshots, and a few fashion looks for her modeling portfolio with Rae Agency (). These were taken outdoors with all natural light on the balcony of my studio in Berkeley, using my Nikon Z6ii () and shot with my 85mm prime f/1.4 lens.

Hey, that’s me! 😂 I absolutely hate having my picture taken, so hopefully if I don’t look at the camera and use enough colored gels on this damn thing so I’m barely recognizable, then maybe I can tolerate it. So here’s an artistic hypercolor self-portrait as described taken earlier this morning at my studio in Berkeley. This was taken with my Nikon Z6ii () and four different DigiBees with colored gels from Paul C. Buff () shot in front of a Studio Blue seamless backdrop from Savage Universal ().

Had a modeling portfolio shoot with Ashley () last week and we captured a variety of looks! She’s awesome! We shot a few in-studio looks, including some ringlight beauty headshots, along with some “hybrid” headshots which were in-studio but not with strobes and just using the natural light of my studio. Here’s a shot using all natural light, in-studio with a simple black seamless background from Savage Universal (). This was shot with my Nikon Z6ii () with all natural light, no reflector, using my 85mm prime @ f/1.4.

For this fitness shoot with Mimi, we shot some more traditional standing poses to show off her physique, and then we captured some action/movement shots which stop motion and really showcase the human form and certain muscle groups. These were taken at my studio in Berkeley, with my Nikon Z6ii () in front of a black seamless background from Savage Universal (). This was a three-light setup, with three gridded DigiBee strobes from (), all controlled with The Raven from (). I converted these shots into black and white in Lightroom Classic from () along with some spot healing using my Wacom Intuit Pro Small tablet from ().

How about some fashion? For my shoot with Stuti, we also shot more than just headshots, and shot a few fashion looks for her modeling portfolio with Rae Agency (). I’m a sucker for long coats, and I’d love to say we spent months staging and styling this look, but we didn’t and it just looks like we did! 😄 These were taken outdoors with all natural light using my Nikon Z6ii () and shot with my 85mm prime f/1.4 lens.

Field of grass type shots are my absolute favorite! However, when it’s fall and the tall grass is long gone, it’s not always possible. However, someone all it takes is a few tall weeds in front of someone’s house with a tight crop made to look like an all-encompassing field of grass. For this portrait, Rae Agency () model Crystal () was a trooper and climbed in the weeds where he took a few shots while the sun was just right. This was shot with all-natural light, backlit with the sun, no reflector. Shot with my 85mm f/1.4 prime lens adapted to fit the Nikon Z6ii from . More to come, stay tuned! :)

Had the pleasure of shooting with electronic music artists adjoin. Two brothers from the Bay and produce electronic music influenced by artists like ODESZA and more. They have a new single “Forget” that dropped on June 7th, and they came by my studio for some hypercolor photography for their Spotify artist page and more. These creative guys are also some of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and I was honored to shoot with them both, and had an absolute blast. Oh, and that drop about 45 seconds into “Forget” in bad ass! Give it a listen, people.
Shot these with my Nikon Z6ii () and five different DigiBees with colored gels from Paul C. Buff () shot in front of the teal seamless backdrop from . The motion blur on the second shot is all done in camera, not Photoshop! I dragged the shutter with a red colored gel to create that effect. Really fun and creative shoot!

Here’s a relaxed personal-branding portrait taken of Gemma from technically inside my studio but using the studio window (natural light) as the only light source. All-natural light is the best light at times! This was taken in front of a Milano gray muslin backdrop from . Shot with my Nikon Z6ii from () using Nikkor Z-mount 70-200mm lens. This combo is unreal. All natural light, no reflectors. :)
