We felt lucky to view the September full moon from Yellowstone, but snow fell that day, and at night it was rainy and cloudy. No visible moon. So I waited to capture it the following morning. Here is the full moon setting over Gardiner, Montana's snow-covered Electric Peak. I loved how the sunlight was hitting the mountain perfectly. Electric Peak is the tallest mountain in the Gallatin Range of southern Montana, close to the Wyoming border. Shoutout to Will for tolerating my constant requests to pull over — or turn around in this case — for the perfect shot. Worth it!

My son let me snap a few photos of his new puppy, Brisby. I can’t wait to take more later and compare how fast he grows. He may look like he enjoyed his photo session, but don’t be fooled. I had approximately 3 seconds to snap each photo before he waddled away. 🤣

Colorado is breath-taking. We visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park and had gorgeous views from our room.

The red winged black bird is a common sight at Osage park. Did you know that only the males are black with a red patch on their wings? The female birds look pale and have brown feathers with stripes all over.

Red winged black birds are a highly polygamous species with one male having up to 15 different females making nests in his territory. The nests are generally an open cup woven of grass or marsh vegetation filled with dried mud and lined with fine grass. The nests are woven between several stems, typically over water in a marsh area often surrounded by cattails and tall grass.
