I had an absolute BLAST getting out and chasing this Slight Risk!

I got to meet Storm Chaser Brandon Turner for the first time and that was an absolute treat!

I think it’s time for some Waffle House though, I’m starving!

Update:

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded today’s risk to a Level 2/5 Slight Risk.

This is mostly driven by an upgrade in wind probabilities to 15% #, citing significant severe winds could be possible. (75mph+)

I’ll likely be out chasing in Eastern Arkansas!

Good Mornin!

A Level 1/5 Marginal Risk is still outlined but was expanded to include the entire state today.

Hazards will include a Damaging gust or two and a Hail threat with the stronger storms.

Looking out today, we’re socked in sunshine until we get towards this afternoon, where by around 2-3 pm, showers and thunderstorms will start popping up in Central portions of the state and move east/southeast with time.

Then by around 6-7 pm (yes I said that, hahahehe), we’ll see renewed development just west of the metro and that’ll be round 2 of showers and thunderstorms moving southeast.

I may go out and document some of the storms, but we’ll see.

Besides that, Heat Advisories are already in place for Southern Arkansas so be sure to stay hydrated and stay cool.

I’ll be monitoring conditions and will update accordingly if things change!

Take care and Stay Cool!

Howdy Friends!

Another day of Heat, Heat and more Heat.

Burn Bans are still in effect for a large swath of the state, so avoid burning anything as we’ve already had a wildfire report yesterday in Union County.

The ground is dry and we’re starved for substantial rainfall.

Besides that, temperatures could peak near 100+ in some spots today, so stay hydrated and take breaks in this heat.

Quite a few storms got going yesterday and some reached considerable status with winds reaching 70 in some spots.

Downbursts were quite common as well, particularly near Malvern, where a storm just bottomed out and that was one of the storms that had a considerable tag applied.

Overall, today looks hot with some rain chances across southwest AR with a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk in Place and then going into tomorrow, we’ll see more rain chances as we head into the weekend with another Marginal Risk already outlined.

Stay Safe and drink plenty of water folks!

Good Morning Friends!

Forecasted Temperatures could be approaching as high as 105+ and locally as high as 110.

Heat Headlines have been outlined ahead of the rising temperatures with much of the River Valley heading to Central AR and some areas northeast/southeast already having Extreme Heat Warnings issued, along with heat advisories being posted for Northern and Southern AR.

Today is a day to really take Heat Safety seriously.

Be sure to drink plenty of water, stick near AC, and breaks need to be frequent if you work in the heat.

Besides the heat, we’ve also got chances for some severe storms across far Northern and Northeast Arkansas.

A Slight Risk (Level 2/5) has been outlined by the Storm Prediction Center citing the chance for Damaging Winds, Hail, and maybe a brief tornado or two.

I’m monitoring storms ongoing across the risk area and waiting to see if any boundaries become established, because if so, they’ll enhance any storm that can latch onto them; leading to an enhanced tornadic threat.

A lot of things have to go right in the tornadic department today, so it’s a wait and see!

Overall, today is HOT and going into the latter half of the week, it looks like that won’t change.

Take care of yourselves folks and stay hydrated!

Current Look at Radar shows quite a few showers and occasional thunderstorms specifically near Searcy and areas east, towards Memphis.

Heat Headlines are still outlined with Extreme Heat Warnings still present for portions of central AR extending back into western AR, but most of the state is under a Heat Advisory, so make sure to practice Heat Safety.

Going into tomorrow, the Storm Prediction Center/NWS Little Rock has outlined a Level 2/5 Slight Risk for far northern into northeast AR.

A Warm Front will be the antithesis for storm initiation and the storm mode will mostly be supercellular.

Hazards will include Damaging Winds, Large Hail (Maybe a much larger stone could be possible, given instability being present), and an isolated tornado threat.

If storms can interact with the warm front, there would be an enhanced tornadic threat, but it’s dependent on a lot of things going right, so we’ll see.

Also, Burn Bans are still in effect for MUCH of the state, as danger of Wildfire is Moderate, but there is a swath of higher danger extending from Central into all of the southern Half of the state, so avoid burning all together.

Overall, today’s gonna be another hot one, so be sure to drink water, take frequent breaks, and stick near some AC when possible.

Have a great Tuesday!

Current look at radar shows a couple pop up showers with some lightning activity this morning.

Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are already in place, with temperatures expected to reach the triple digits in some spots along with heat indexes up to near 114 in the warning area and 109 in the advisory area.

Take breaks, drink water, and make sure to stay cool.

Heat Stroke and Heat Exhaustion are ruthless this time of year, so practice your heat safety.

Heat. Heat. And more Heat. Be ready for those Heat Indexes of 105+.

Drink Water and take Breaks.
