A few images from a photography workshop in 2021 at the Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park. I was struggling with finding inspiration and on top of it, forests are challenging to photograph because they are complex with lots going on. The instructor told me to choose simpler subjects, essentially the tree instead of the forest. The only images that I liked from this exercise were the ones where the subject was a single tree and its immediate surroundings that were illuminated by fleeting light beams piercing through the morning fog and the forest canopy. I played with the exposure to make only this tree and plants growing at its base visible, thereby hiding all the other trees and plants that are part of the forest in a black background.

Spent a few days around Mexican Hat, Utah and now on top of Cedar Mesa on my way to Hanksville and the San Rafael Swell.

I finally sorted through the images from my 2021 trip to the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Painted Hills Unit in Oregon, and processed the handful included in this post.

Still have many old images from the 2021 workshop to go through, and select a few for processing. This is next on my photography-related things to do list.
