Chris + Micaela entirely in black & white ♡

I often wonder what it’d be like to document a wedding day entirely in black & white. To me, black & white gets rid of distraction, the noise surrounding an image. It feels softer, it takes your eyes straight to what’s happening and leaves less to ponder and figure out. It emphasizes the emotion, highlights that tear drop.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love color and more so good color, even more so film color. But imagine it, nothing surrounding that image besides what is truly happening.

When editing a wedding day, I pick and choose my color edits and b&w edits. My black & white edits are precisely chosen by what will tell the story of that moment best. What’s going to reel in that emotion the strongest? Often times it’s this. And I love it.

I found myself making that same decision a lot while editing and curating Chris and Micaela’s gallery. That day was FILLED with emotion. Heart felt first looks and words, tears shed and constant smiles from ear to ear, a special surprise from Hawaii. Every second, every moment had its own meaning and I could keep reliving that feeling each day I worked on their photos. I sent this gallery off this week and it’s one I will look back on for years ahead. Still so stoked for my friends 🫶🏼

A full 20 slides for Rachel and Michael. Married in the hills of Tilden Park 🫶🏼

I thought a lot about this day while piecing these slides together. I reminisced and thought about the best way, the best word to describe this day. What stuck in my mind was feeling. This day was made of feeling, it unfolded the way it did because of feeling and it was beautiful. The love Rachel and Michael share, the dynamic and bond of their families, the detail. It wasn’t the posed or the directed that made these moments happen, it was feeling.

Tears fell, smiles grew at every second, hugs and congratulations wrapped around them throughout the day, traditions were shared, and most importantly, the day was truly enjoyed by the two people this day was for. It was what a wedding day should feel like.

Documenting this day felt so natural and so easy because of how natural they let the day be. It was truly an honor to be there and I couldn’t be more stoked for them. More to come from this day soon!

A warm morning in the hills of Briones with Karina + Jonathan 🫶🏼

What was supposed to be the final stretch of getting ready for their wedding, turned into another blessing in itself. Last week I had the pleasure of spending a morning amongst the hills with two of my favorites to document the beautiful growth of their family.

Sometimes in life, plans change. But for Karina and Jonathan, it changed in such a spectacular way. From wedding planning to baby planning! Documenting this milestone for them was such an honor and I am beyond stoked for them 🥹 I cannot wait to meet the little one and continue to document the rest of their lives moments ahead!

A rainy day in Sacramento back in April second shot for 🤍

Anytime I get the opportunity to shoot alongside Classic, it’s guaranteed a good time and something special with the best energy. This day started off stormy with heavy clouds and a mix of thunder and lighting. But alternate plans and positive minds made the best out of the uncontrollable weather.

Rain or shine, times were had and I’m forever grateful for these days alongside one of my best friends!

Friday in + around the studio with Steph & Evelyn 🫶🏼

From her and Jason’s engagement photos, to their wedding, to Evelyn’s newborn photos, to now here with another soon to be addition to their family.

Friday we spent the evening in the studio and out in the garden. What was planned as a maternity session turned to be much more. As Jason and Dean stayed behind at home, Steph got to share time with Evelyn before she upgrades to big sister. This didn’t feel like any maternity session, it felt as if these moments needed to be documented and frozen in time.

These stages in little ones lives always feel so important to me. These moments are so fleeting, they happen so fast and before you know it, they aren’t the same little ones anymore. This day felt special, everything I’ve had the honor of documenting for Steph and Jason has felt special and now these moments can be relived for years and years to come as their family grows 🤍

If you take anything from this post on your feed, it’s this, document everything, take the photos, book the session. Time passes in the sweetest of ways but being able to look back at those times is even sweeter. More to come from this day and this special fam soon.

Emilia + Jake, married at Marin County Civic Center on a warm Friday morning 🫶🏼

Last Friday I cruised out to one of my favorites to join Emilia and Jake for their short and sweet ceremony at Marin Civic Center along with their family and of course their pup, Toby!

Post ceremony we wandered around for some photos and talked about their plans to celebrate their marriage. It was the perfect morning and it was such an honor to document it all. A big cheers to these two and their new life ahead as husband and wife! More to come soon.

Reunited with Alicia + Landon 🫶🏼

Last year I photographed their wedding, this year I photographed them preparing to expand their family!

Last week I had the pleasure of linking back up and spending an evening with Alicia and Landon for their maternity session. We talked life after the wedding, navigating into parenthood, laughed, and walked around a small portion of the park. One of my favorite parts of this career is the continuous documentation of your stories. From pre wedding planning, to the wedding, to maternity photos, to family photos for years to follow. The connection and storyline feels so special and creating that for Alicia and Landon is such an honor 🥹

A whole 20 slides for the magic that was Saturday for Laetitia + Kevin 🫶🏼

Over the weekend we had the absolute HONOR of celebrating and documenting the love of Laetitia and Kevin’s wedding day.

The day begun in the hills of Martinez for a small, intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Laetitia got ready in the pool house and Kevin at home with their cat, the said I Do on the lawn, and carried into some food before we made our way to Kevin’s parents house for an unforgettable party. After they shared their first dance, Laetitia danced with her dad, sweet words were shared by their friends and family, the light faded into the evening and the real party began. Drinks flowed, laughs rung out through the neighborhood, bubbles carried through the air, and they ended the day with a jump + a swim in the pool. The raddest end to a wedding day ever.

It was truly the perfect day for these two and I’m honored to have been apart of it. More to come soon!

In the studio with Megan + Drew 🫶🏼

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of having Megan and Drew stop by the studio for what was probably the chillest maternity session. Megan came to me with a vision of laid back and simple. We immediately caught the vibe quickly creating memories that’ll carry them into this new chapter in life. It’s always such a huge honor documenting these moments. Documenting the love, the excitement, the nerves. It’s such a beautiful thing 🥲

I’ve shot so much in the new space over the last couple of months that I’ve yet to share. I’ve taken so much time to learn the space, its light, its tones, its character and its beauty. Now that my office is also located inside of the studio, I spend nearly everyday in here still in disbelief that this place is real and mine. It’s wild.

Em + Jay married in a quaint, private air bnb right here at home in Benicia 🫶🏼

Last Saturday we all finally got to celebrate the love and marriage of Emily + Jay. They celebrated with their closest friends and family along with their kids, they married in the garden aside the old chapel building then followed with a party where all the fun was had.

I’ve gotten to know Em and Jay quite a bit over the last few years through my sister as well as many sessions and it’s been a blast. Having the honor to photograph a day so special to them and their family means the world. It was perfect in every way and exactly how it was meant for them.

Truly an incredible day and much more to come from it soon.
