An absolute epic day with the T49As.

The newest little family member T049A7 “Nimbus” was FULL of energy — charging around, popping up everywhere, rolling, splashing and doing its best to keep the entire family busy.

There’s something pretty incredible about watching a brand-new calf already showing so much personality. Tiny whale. Massive attitude.

The T49As definitely my favorite new calf of 2026. Tiny whale. Massive personality.

And honestly, watching this little one tear around out there feels pretty fitting for our kids and toddler Orca tees. Made for the little adventurers who seem to have about the same amount of energy. 🫍

Strider is a massive adult male Bigg’s killer whale and a son of T46, one of the best-known matriarchs in the Salish Sea.

He was born around 2000 and earned the name Strider because of his tendency to wander and sometimes travel independently from the rest of the family.

With that towering dorsal fin, he’s pretty hard to miss when he shows up.

Moments like this are exactly why I keep bringing the camera back out.

You can spend hours watching the water, following movement, waiting for something to happen—and then in a split second a killer whale launches through the surface and the entire scene comes alive.

I’m fortunate to be the one behind the camera when moments like this happen, but Wake Up To Adventure has never just been about the photographs. It’s about sharing these wild places with people who care about them too.

Every time I leave the harbor, the hope is the same: killer whales.

Usually I’m looking toward the open water, wondering how far we’ll have to go before that first dorsal fin appears. But every once in a while, the adventure starts before we’ve really even left.

A few minutes from the dock, there they are—killer whales moving through the harbor, weaving along the shoreline, traveling, searching for food, and turning what should have been the beginning of the search into the encounter itself.

That’s one of my favorite things about being on the water. You can have a plan, a destination, and an entire day ahead of you…and wildlife can completely rewrite it in the first five minutes.

Never a bad way to start an adventure.

Jack Does It Again

Jack has been giving us some incredible moments lately, and this breach was one of those frames that stops you in your tracks. He didn’t completely clear the water, but the sheer size, power, and height of this breach made it absolutely massive.

These are the moments behind The WUTA Project and our orca T-shirt—a way to take that connection to the wild a little further. Every purchase gives back to Orca Behavior Institute, supporting their ongoing research and work with killer whales in the Salish Sea.

A pretty good reminder of why we started Wake Up To Adventure in the first place.
