I had actually planned on getting into this field after college but went in a different direction. About 7 years ago I was able to get back into it and have loved every minute of it! Finally...at this time in my life I am able to spend more time doing something else I really love.

These little bundles are a little more stout than the others I have seen and are very difficult to photo because they are rarely still for any length of time and VERY FAST! They are also little bullies, taking possession of the feeders by chasing any and all others away. His ruby throat is not always easily seen but when in the correct lighting it is very obvious. The females look nothing like this. And the young males develop their red feathers as they grow.
