Forgotten Film started as a camera-collecting hobby for Laura Lee and Jonathan Cobb. Laura, an actress and Jonathan, a retired Army veteran began to cultivate an interest in photography back in 2012. They grew a moderate collection of antique cameras and often found exposed films forgotten insi

de. The couple enjoyed developing and sharing these images on their page for the world to enjoy. "The most interesting and exciting part of collecting older cameras is that we often find exposed film that was forgotten inside... That is how we came up with the name Forgotten Film! You never know what you'll find - it could be an entire roll of flowers or some rare wartime photos. "When covid hit in early 2020 I was out of work for a bit - acting gigs were few and far between.. With more time on our hands we began to experiment with older developing processes. We fell in love with the colloidion process & knew it was time to share our passion with the town" -Laura Lee. Forgotten film officially opened downtown studio location on November 20th 2020! A complete list of services can be found on the website at forgottenfilm.us/services

Kodak Disc film 1982-1999. 📸
You don't see these very often. Here are some scans of a few that I found interesting. I purchased them at a local thrift shop in Killeen, Texas. It's likely the photos were taken by a soldier stationed at Fort Hood while on deployment. One of the photos has an image with a sign that reads "180th Transportation Battalion" another sign says "MacGunners" and another "Camp Kasserine" Camp Kasserine is a training area in the Grafenwoehr Training Area in Germany, where the U.S. Army temporarily stations training units. My guess is these photos were taken right before or around the time of Operation DESERT STORM / DESERT SHIELD. What do you think? Recognize any places or faces? let us know in the comments!

These negatives are currently for sale on eBay with a starting bid of .99 cents and no reserve if you are interested.

Getting to know new people and hearing their story is always enjoyable. I was recently contacted by Able of Superb Image Photography, a local Copperas Cove photographer, to discuss the tintype process. Similar to me, Able enjoys collecting antiques. So when he told me about an ENTIRE photo album full of antique tin photos - I had to see it . We had coffee together and chatted. He let me snap some pictures to share here on the forgotten Film page!

The album itself is remarkably intricate - it’s filled with genuine tintype photographs and is dated 1865. The seller he purchased it from discovered it in a storage facility. Although we are unsure of their exact identities, we think the individuals in the photos are from the central Texas region.

Able and I both think the little guys with the goatee are the most interesting. Very intriguing; I'm sure pictures would have a lot to say if they could speak. But perhaps the most interesting thing in this album are the locks of the children’s braided hair in the last two pages. This was once very special to someone. Looking through these I have a secret eerie hollow sad kind-of feeling.. to think of what used to be and how only a few locks of hair and moments caught in time are all that are left. This album is such a treasure and in beautiful condition. Hope you enjoy looking through these as much as I did and a huuuuge thank you to Able, I’m so grateful we could meet and become friends.
