Saint Mary Catholic Church - Dayton, OH.

In 1859 Saint Mary was established on Xenia Avenue to accommodate German Catholics who had outgrown Emmanuel Church.
The original church structure (a 110-by-50-foot brick building) was consecrated on August 15, the feast day of Our Lady of the Assumption. A parish school followed shortly after.
Current Structure and Architectural Landmark
Around 1905 as membership expanded, the original building was demolished, and the present Romanesque Revival church designed by architect John B. Vermon was erected. It features iconic twin clock towers topped with dormered domes and intricate stained glass windows depicting the life of Mary.
During World War II, Army Air Forces pilots flying into nearby Wright Field used the church's distinct twin towers as a key visual navigation landmark.
In the early 1920s, the sanctuary was upgraded with Italian Pietrasanta marble and an Austin pipe organ.

Saint Florian Window, Saint Rose Catholic Church, Maria Stein, OH.

A burning house can be seen In the bottom-left corner, the stream of water from the bucket falls directly onto a small, detailed half-timbered house that has smoke and flames rising from its roof. A typical depiction in artwork showcasing Saint Florian, the Patron Saint of Firefighters.
The background behind Saint Florian features an intricate, olive-green damask or brocade-like pattern fired into the glass.
The central scene is flanked by elegant vertical borders containing alternating pink and white rosette flowers nestled among golden acanthus leaves, similar to all of the windows within this beautiful church.

Unfortunately after three years of this project, I’ve had my first casualties.
These two pieces unfortunately appear to have gotten lost in customs.

Two beautiful photos lost in the mail.

The first one is actually a cake made in the image of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Youngstown, OH. 1905
(I am particularly sad about this one because of its uniqueness)

The second one was a nice photo of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, Medina, OH.

The Basilica of Sainte Anne de Détroit - Detroit, MI.

- Founded two days after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac landed at the Detroit River, the Basilica of Sainte Anne de Détroit is the second-oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic parish in the United States, with records dating back to 1704.
On July 26, 1701 the feast day of Saint Anne French colonists began constructing a small log chapel inside Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit.

-Built in 1886 in the Classic French Gothic Revival style, the current building features flying buttresses, twin spires, gargoyles, and a 35-foot main altar. The structure incorporates historic artifacts saved from the 1818 Stone Church, including the original cornerstone, hand-carved communion rails, the Beaubien Bell, and the oldest stained glass in the city. Over the 20th century, the congregation shifted from its French roots to predominantly Irish and, eventually, Hispanic communities.

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church - Cleveland

Just a few of the over 200 photos I took of this beautiful church. These are some of the best photos I’ve taken, in my opinion. I absolutely love that I can physically see my Photogrpahy improving 10 fold as this project continues.
