Rockingham Recon Aerial Services

Today, Rockingham Recon was proud to partner with the Dartmouth Next Program for their weekend STEM event.

We had a great time speaking with the students about real-world drone applications—from mapping and inspections to search and rescue—and walking them through our deployment strategies. Afterward, we had the privilege of standing by to assist as these talented student teams flew prototype drones they built themselves!

Education and community outreach are core to our mission. We are passionate about helping young minds expand their horizons, and we look forward to seeing how these students shape the future of the unmanned aerial aircraft industry.

The other night while assisting a customer with searching for a lost dog we saw a what we think was a Black Bear. It was late at night and a long distance from the drone. When I first spotted the Bear on the screen I thought maybe it was the dog we were looking for. Turns out not to be but a pritty cool sight either way.

We are out searching for this young lady Miss Penny! Multiple sightings so we’re hopeful to narrow down a search area this evening!

A few upgrades done this year. Our FPV is our oldest drone but still does a lot of work so we gave it a refresh, with a new outer shell with better protection of its internal components, new propellers, gamble guard and FAA lighting when we need to be seen by other aircraft. Our Autel will be sharing the same FAA lighting and got a mount for the light sit on when in use.

Whenever we’re out on a mission, the most common question we get is, "How far can that drone fly?"

While long-distance range is impressive, what actually matters is the detail, precision, and dedication we bring to every foot of coverage.

To put that into perspective, here is a snapshot of our work over just the last day and a half:

12 flights logged with our thermal Autel drone searching for a lost dog in Athens

26.6 miles total ground distance covered (140,467 feet)

33 minutes average flight duration per battery pack

2.22 miles covered per flight sweep

That level of coverage and focused effort is what we bring to the table every single time a customer calls. And those numbers come from just one search effort over 36 hours.

Whether it's search and rescue, site inspections, distance is just a tool—delivering answers is the mission.

Imagine what Rockingham Recon could do for you.
