Portraits from The Third Annual Lumber and Lace Ball to Benefit The Whatcom Hospice Foundation! An amazing event to raise awareness and funds for a compassionate service that we are fortunate to have available. Many thanks to Lindsie Fratus and the hard-working volunteers who are responsible for making this event happen. Many more thanks to The Beauty Institute for styling some 1900's hair-do's and to Louise Seager of Ferndale Heritage Society for providing the real deal props!

Being that the event takes place in an early 1900's logging and maritime theme I decided to shoot the event entirely on black and white film with the option for participants to order hand made silver gelatin prints. I tend to use a small non-distracting watermark for photo credit as well as the event promotion… feel free to download and use the photos but please give mention to The Lumber and Lace Ball to Benefit The Whatcom Hospice Foundation.

These shots were composed on 35mm B&W film then the negatives were scanned. Silver gelatin prints are available upon order.

These shots were composed using a 4x5 inch "view camera". Vignnetting was done in the darkroom print process to replicate a common style of the victorian era. Some of the fidelity and sharpness is unfortunately lost in the print scan process but the actual prints are stunning and have a great feel to them. (For those who participated your prints are ready for pick-up )
