I’ve been coming to these daffodil fields for years. They quietly hold many chapters of my own life, from newly married to a family of four.
This was supposed to be a day off. I still brought my little travel camera, because apparently I’m incapable of seeing flowers and not photographing them.
Late in the evening, after the rain has lifted, I ran into this couple visiting from Toronto. Strangely, in one of the most photographed spots in the PNW, we were the only people left in the entire field.
I asked if they’d take a photo of me, and in return I took a few of them.
We talked, wandered the rows of daffodils, and took more photos while the sky softened around us. Later that day, after I sent them the images, I found out they had gotten engaged there, right after our impromptu little photoshoot.
The odds of all of us crossing paths in that huge field at that exact moment feel beautifully small.
Meeting kind, genuine people like this makes the future feel a little brighter. There is more to this story in my blog, see bio
