Early this morning, I came across a baby muskrat that was swimming amongst the lily pads while avoiding a quite aggressive duck…looking for food and resting upon them to eat, bathe, and rest ☺️

The osprey has been quite successful lately, catching some good sized catfish. Loved that a barn swallow flew by in the first photo and that it’s shaking off the water in the second

Diving at speeds of 80-130 km/h (50-80 mph) ospreys, known as “fish hawks,” tuck their wings and extend their feet in front of their head, plunging to a depth of a meter to retrieve the fish. They are found on every continent EXCEPT Antarctica
Murphy’s Law..I’d just removed my camera from the tripod when this osprey appeared, resulting in a less than smooth video, but I’m still happy to have captured the dive and catch

Beavers!! I’ve only ever seen beavers a couple of times in my life. When I moved into Bellingham this spring, I was told that they had a lodge in the area and I did manage to see one while enjoying a cup of coffee on early morning. I was delighted to look out last night and see one swimming my direction. Quickly grabbing my gear (still in my camera bag) I got cozy on my balcony and began to video what was first one, but quickly became two.

As the sun set, a male lion and his companion enjoyed the cool sand of the dry river bed and the lovely breeze. What an incredible sight and experience on my first evening in the Umbabat Nature Reserve with Motswari Private Game Reserve

A common merganser, and her brood of newly hatched ducklings, hugged the shoreline of the Khutzeymateen Inlet. With a bald eagle perched in a tree up above, the mother did a good job of keeping her young moving and out of the eagle’s sight

As soon as mom sat up from nursing her 1 1/2 yr old cubs, they got into a scuffle..she wasn’t having it and quickly broke it up.
