As we enter the busiest part of wedding season, one thing I think I did better this year was finding a better balance between work and life.
Last year, I said yes to everything and everyone. I took on the work, the opportunities, the people—even when I probably shouldn’t have.
This year was different.
I became more selective about who I wanted to work with and, honestly, I turned down work simply because I didn’t want to break the goals I had set for myself.
And that was hard.
As a photographer, especially during wedding season, it’s easy to fall into the mindset of “I should take this booking” or “I don’t want to miss this opportunity.” But I’m learning that saying no doesn’t mean you’re missing out.
Sometimes, saying no is how you protect the life you’re building outside of your business.
I’m still figuring it out, but I’m proud that this year I chose balance a little more than I did last year.
And honestly… that feels like a win.
