Being a photographer right now is kind of funny to me because you’ve got all these people who can all of a sudden generate AI digital images that look all new age and perfect. Meanwhile I probably have had the necessary tech to do that all along, but I’m just over here trying to make it look like I’m still shooting with film 😂

Allan and Jess and their dogs celebrating their recent elopement with family last night; smiles all around on a beautiful day 🤍

I am always impressed by the way Jess has her dogs trained, and it reminded me of something I’ve been thinking about quite a bit recently: the fact that everyone you meet brings something different to the table, and I bet everyone I meet knows something that I don’t. Folks get so caught up in the hustle of thinking they’re the best at everything that they forget we all have something to offer. Where you fall short, someone else can fill in with their skill. You’re not better than them, they’re not better than you. So maybe I can’t do it all, but I can sure aim a camera at things 👍

Went out in search of the Milky Way last night. I found it, but unfortunately it was pretty drowned out by the light of the moon. Regardless, here you can faintly see the core over the horizon. This was my first time shooting the Milky Way with clouds, making for a more interesting sky. In addition, I was treated with a chorus of frogs and loons while I took in this view. All things considered, I’ll still count it as a win 🙃 We’ll give it another try soon. I find when I’m unsuccessful is when I learn the most.

An official part of my editing process is rushing home after the session and picking “The One” - the photo from the session that’s almost perfect and needs to be seen. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to pick a single “One” from this session. I love them all too much, but anyway, here’s what I decided on.

I was just talking about golf course weddings this morning - specifically this sunset at this particular wedding from a couple years ago - so I thought I’d share and reminisce 🥰

I’m not a golfer, but I do enjoy the photo ops on the golf course!

Two thoughts that always go through my head when I get to a wedding and it’s dark inside
1) cool, I get to use my flash
2) damn it, I have to use my flash

Flash photography is not my favorite, and because of that I have spent quite a bit of time over the years making sure that when it does get dark I still know what to do. I have actually really started to enjoy the end result. It’s all about the light ⚡️
