Help a Survivor Give Back: Send Cassandra & David to Las Vegas
My name is Cassandra Monroe. I’m a wife, a mother, a nurse, and a survivor of human trafficking.
My grooming began when I was 15½. The person who eventually became my husband used love, fear, shame, and my concern for our daughters to control me. Over time, he pushed my boundaries until my life revolved around exploitation and survival.
I kept working because he told me our family depended on it. I kept leaving home believing our daughters were safe with their father.
They weren’t.
In October 2006, words spoken by my four-year-old daughter helped bring the truth to light and began our escape. People showed up for us—my parents, investigators, advocates, and a best friend who refused to let us face it alone.
That best friend was David. He later became my husband and helped raise my daughters with the love and safety they deserved.
Twenty years ago, we needed people to show up. Now we want to show up for someone else.
From January 31 through February 6, 2027, David and I plan to join F.R.E.E. International in Las Vegas to support its work with missing and endangered youth and people vulnerable to exploitation.
I feel God calling me to pay forward the care that helped us rebuild our lives. This mission is deeply personal. When I see a missing-child flyer, I think about the person behind the photograph—their fear, their future, and the people who want them home.
I know how much can be hidden behind the life someone appears to be living. I also know what it means when someone listens, takes the danger seriously, and helps.
What we plan to do
Under experienced team leadership, our planned service includes training, sharing approved missing-child information, canvassing assigned areas, and supporting community outreach. We will follow the team’s direction, pass along information, and help connect people with those equipped to respond.
We are going to listen, learn, and serve wherever we are needed.
Why we need your help
Our hearts are ready to go, but we cannot cover the full cost on our own.
We are raising $4,200 to help both of us travel from Oregon and serve for the week. Our estimated budget includes:
• Registration for two: $700
• Round-trip airfare: $600
• Baggage: $140
• Six nights of shared lodging: $1,080
• Meals for the week: $560
• Rental car: $525
• Fuel and parking: $180
• Reserve for price changes and incidental costs: $415
These are planning estimates. This personal fundraiser will help cover our participation and travel expenses so we can serve alongside F.R.E.E. International.

For years, I was told I needed to earn more and sacrifice more before my family could be okay. Today, I have a safe home, a loving husband, and a voice I am learning to use.
I cannot change what happened to us. But I can bring my experience, my compassion, and my willingness to help.
Someone showed up when my daughters and I needed a way forward. With your support, David and I hope to be part of that help for someone else.
