Move over, algorithm, I'm bringing the single photo post back 🤣🤣🤣

Here's why maternity photos matter.

It's a new beginning, a new page, a whole chapter.

Becoming a mom will change everything. It will make you stronger, even more of a badass.

It will also make you worry about things you never knew to worry about, feel sadness about things you'd never believe would be sad.

Motherhood is rad and heartbreaking and everything in between. So photograph every moment, get a beautiful outfit, do your hair in whatever way it makes you feel sexy and document this moment, before everything changes.

Let me tell you the truth about photoshoots with little kids.

It doesn't always go according to plans.

You have this vision in your head of happy moments, cuddles and giggles...but little kids are unpredictable.

They may not be feeling 💯 that day. Maybe they didn't have a good night of sleep or maybe they are teething.

So here's my advice. Book the full session. It might seem counterintuitive to feel like your kids have to last for a whole hour, but that means we'll have time for them to feel all their feelings.

I've never had a full hour session where a little one was unhappy the whole time. Eventually, with a lot of patience and care from the grown up side, they settle and start feeling like themselves again.

Un unrushed experience beats racing the clock when you have young kids, every time.

Trust me, we forget, there's no way around it.

We can't help but judge ourselves so harshly. I know. I'm right there with you.
I haven't been happy in my body for years. I've gained weight, things have started to look floppy. I get it.

I will not allow this to stop me from taking photos with my kid, though.

One day I know I'll look back at them and I'll be so incredibly happy I didn't.

Our kids are watching us. They learn so much from the way WE navigate the world. I want my son to know that every body is worthy. That I might not be the most proud of the way my body looks, but I am proud of everything it does for me. That my body gave him life and that is enough for me to be proud to exist in it.

It's hard and we can do it. Don't you think?

Childhood is naturally beautiful. We don't have to worry about getting cheesy smiles in every photo.

When you're having the best day with your kids, smiles will come.

Instead of worrying about getting them to smile, get them to have fun. Play games, make up silly jokes, listen to their stories. When kids are having fun, you can see it in their eyes.

Saying cheese doesn't tell the story of who your child really is today. Letting them be free and wild does.
