The Great White Pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus)

More than 50% of Europe's great white pelicans are breeding in the Danube Delta. They are often seen in large numbers during feeding frenzies. There is also an area that is protected and visitors are not allowed to go there, however you'll get to see plenty of them during your stay.
Danube Delta is one of the most bio-diverse places in Europe! The wetlands that form the delta are the perfect place for water birds. Danube Delta is great for bird photography, with a lot of bird species migrating here from all over the world! This is definitely a birder's paradise!

The Little Egret (Egretta garzetta).
It’s a migratory bird that nests in Romania during the summer, especially in the Danube Delta. It's a rare bird who currently is declared a “monument of nature” and is protected by law. The wingspan is 90-110 cm and weighs between 350 and 600 g. The little egret nests in colonies, in reeds or small trees. The food consists of fish, frogs, mollusks, reptiles, small rodents, insects, about 350-550 g daily. When fishing, it stands motionless in shallow water on the shores of lakes or rivers. In Europe the species has a population of 169.000-215.000 breeding pairs; in Romania it is estimated to approximatively 4.000-5.000 pairs.

"The wild horses of Letea Forest"!

The Danube Delta horses are a population of feral horses in Romania. They live in and around Letea Forest in the Danube Delta, between the Sulina and Chilia branches of the Danube. About 4000 feral horses live in the Danube Delta, 2000 of them in the Letea nature reserve, where on one hand, they are among the last remaining "wild" (feral) horses living at large on the European continent, but are also deemed to be a threat to the flora of the forest, including some plants on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
Although there have been feral horses in the region for hundreds of years, their numbers greatly increased after the collective farms were closed down in 1990 and the horses belonging to them were freed.

"The Carpathian Forest Steam Train"!
CFF Viseul De Sus Romania.

Sometimes known as the " Vaser Valley Railway" the forest railway of Viseul De Sus is probably the last real forestry railway still operating with steam locos in Europe.
The narrow gauge railway (760 mm gauge) twist and turns over bridges and through tunnels, with many curves., alongside the Vaser river in a wild, romantic valley of the Romanian Carpathian Mountains.

The day that I photographed this image it was pouring outside as you can see in the image the heavy rain coming down right before the steam train took off.

“Rainbow above the Viseul De Sus Village".

This is the view from the cabin that we have stayed back in April on our trip to Viseul De Sus, Maramures County.
After all day raining the sun came up on the evening bring with him spectacular rainbow.
Viseul De Sus, it is a beautiful village located in Maramures County so many things to do and explore. People are so friendly here - my family and I are coming back this fall.

The gods country Maramures:
The Rodna Mountains have one of the longest continuous ridges in Romania, with over 50 km from west to east. The highest point Pietrosul Rodnei, measuring 2,303 (7,556 ft).
The mountains are most suited for hiking in summer and skiing in winter, and are especially famous for having snow late into the summer months (skiing is possible well into June, sometimes even July).
The Rodna Mountains are in the region of Maramureș, in northern Romania, near the Romania–Ukraine border. To the north lies the city of Borșa and the village Moisei.

"Amazing Romania"!

-Corvin Castle, Romania - Unique Places Around The World
This beautiful creepy Gothic castle, with its drawbridge over a rushing river, is one of the most beautiful castles in Romania.
-Corvin Castle was laid out in 1446, when construction began on the orders of Voivode of Transylvania John Hunyadi (Hungarian: Hunyadi János, Romanian: Iancu or Ioan de Hunedoara) who wanted to transform the former keep built by Charles I of Hungary. The castle was originally given to John Hunyadi's father, Voyk (Vajk), by Sigismund of Luxembourg, king of Hungary and Croatia, as severance in 1409. It was also in 1446 that John Hunyadi was elected as the regent-governor by the Diet.

-Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Dracula) was imprisoned in this castle’s dungeon for seven years, a period that made him go insane and turn to his darker thoughts. This fact was never proven. Some historians say that he was imprisoned here for only three or four months. This theory has never been proven either even though it is more popular among specialists than the first one.

Terezia Mine! View of the underground lake and UFO-shaped constructions. It is a cronical mine (bell mine). Salt mining in the type of room left behind underground halls of impressive dimensions: 90 m (295 feet) height and 87 m (285 feet) diameter. The depth from the mouth of the shafts to the base of the mine is 112 m (367 feet).

It is one of the largest castles in Europe and figures in a list of the Seven Wonders of Romania.
