While driving along one Maine's many country roads a week or so ago, I came across this stand of birch trees (and a few other trees). I literally slammed on the breaks and pulled over, thankful that for once the camera was in my car.

Spent a few minutes photographing the trees, hopped back in my car, feeling a little lighter. Made my day.

Mystery Print Sale!

Hey everyone! This past weekend we closed up Saltwater Artists Gallery for the season and I took down my show. I had a bunch of matted prints left over from the print bins and I'd like to get rid of them so they don't take up much needed space. So I'm offering you a deal:

Two 8'x12" prints, matted to 12"x16" for $99 (only ten of these left!)

OR

Two 12"x18" prints matted to 18"x24" for $199 (only 17 left!)

The catch is, you won't know what prints you're getting. I will choose two to ship. They are all scenes of Maine, and all are among my favorite images.

The 8x12's were priced at $75 EACH in the gallery, and the 12x18's were priced at $140 EACH.

Once the prints are gone, the sale is over. This is a great opportunity to nab a couple of prints of mine for low cost! Don't wait!

"Provisioning The Affinity"

On an early morning at Spruce Head Harbor, the lobster boat Affinity takes on bait and supplies for a morning of hauling traps. I arrived well before sunrise to catch the blue hour, and wasn't disappointed as one boat after another pulled up to the wharf to load up and head out. The lighting on the wharf and the boat mixed with the soft blue glow of the early morning sky made for a beautiful contrast.

"Autumn Afternoon at Marshall Point"

Last week I had some time with friends and took them to see Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde for sunset. It was a beautiful day with some great skies, and as soon as I made this image I knew I was going to make it black and white. This is the result. Enjoy!

When I first got my drone, one of the things I wanted to do with it was photograph as many of Maine's idyllic small towns as possible. Gardiner, Maine, where I recently moved, calls itself a city, but it still has that small-town feel, with a beautiful riverfront park, cute cafes and restaurants, and fun shops. I had decided I wanted to photograph the town when I moved there, and was recently able to make it happen. I love the fog blanketing the Kennebec River and Cobboseecontee Stream. The start of the autumn foliage is a nice touch too.

One of my favorite autumn images that I've taken. These aspens in Colorado get their unique shape from having been buried under an avalanche as saplings. Kristen Wilkinson Photography and I arrived just as the sun was coming through the canopy of golden leaves. I wanted to be able to show the full height of the trees, so I laid on the ground to capture this angle and the sun star peeking out from behind the center trunk.
