I recently joined MPB - Mississippi Public Broadcasting's Reflecting Mississippi to talk about Beyond the Census: Reclaiming Mississippi's Forgotten Narratives through the Delta Burial Corporation.
As founder of Crimson Stories and project lead, I'm helping digitize and preserve the earliest records of the Delta Burial Corporation so families and communities can reconnect with stories that extend far beyond census records.
I'm grateful to the Mississippi Humanities Council and the America250 Mississippi Grant Program for supporting this work, and to Delta Burial Corporation, Quitman County Organization Development and Coahoma Community College for their partnership.
I believe every person, every organization and every community has stories of significance that deserve to be discovered, preserved and shared.
