I've never posted a Golden-cheeked warbler on this page, so here's the first. The Golden-cheeked is a special migrating songbird for Texas...100% of them (so they say) are born in Texas. Adult birds migrate into Texas each spring and build nests in the juniper trees, raise a hatch, and then head south for the winter. An active bird that loves to splash in the water, again and again.

Quick series of a Summer Tanager as it returns to Central Texas from southern winter grounds. Males are bright red. This is the first one I've seen this year, and he was at Guadalupe River State Park northwest of San Antonio.
