Last year me and set out to do something wild that we definitely hadn’t seen anyone do 👀
We made the wise commitment to release 52 songs in a year.
At first, the goal was 1 song a week.
We felt like that was attainable, and we set out on a steady path to make it happen.
We didnt miss a single drop for 27 weeks straight.
Once we hit that 27th week Anthony realized he needed to take a break because he was understandably reaching creative burnout.
Sometimes you’re going to take on things that at first might seem easy, but down the road you’ll reach burn out and need to regroup.
As a result, the gears shifted and we had to figure out a new way to make this happen. I could tell once Anthony had hit burn out, he was indifferent to finishing the project.
He took 8 - 12 weeks off and we got back to it (I can’t remember the exact timeline)
Come November we still had almost 20+ songs to release still with barely even 8 weeks to do so.
Come the last two weeks of the year we had 12 songs left, with 2 weeks to meet our deadline. We were recording EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Our commitment to finishing this project was STRONG but in turn, the quality of work took a hit.
We became hyper obsessed with quantity not taking into consideration that in turn over time, quality would ultimately decrease.
As a result, when we released the final project Anthony ultimately decided to take it down from streaming services because he wasn’t happy with the final product which I feel was the right choice
I can’t lie, I was disappointed knowing the 52 songs wouldn’t be done. But I didn’t look at it as a failure.
When I look back at the year, I don’t regret any aspect of it.
For myself, it made me mentally stronger, far more confident in my ability to execute and have to rethink when things change last minute.
It taught me the power of patience and understanding.
I’m proud of what we did. There was no huge accolades to come with it. But I’m proud of the fact we took a heavy chance at such a crazy task and we gave it our absolute all down to the final second.
We’re crazy, but if you wanna do anything out of the ordinary in life you have to be 🤷♂️
