COME SEE ALL THE ENGRAVED COBBLESTONES AT THE SCOUTING MONUMENT !
The last cobblestone was placed today at the Barre Scouting Monument at Depot Square.
We still have to recognize our largest donors with a large granite apron which will go around the base.
There will also be 3 granite benches placed around the perimeter of the cobblestones.
Maria's Bagels was the very last cobblestone.
THANK YOU Marcel Chouinard for all your wonderful work !

BLACK HISTORY MONTH - HARD WORK FOR A BETTER FUTURE
In the 1880-90's Barre Vermont granite workers came here from all over the United States and the world.
As a true melting pot for people of all ethnicities Central Vermont offered a chance to achieve the American dream no matter the color of your skin.

Marcel Chouinard just completed putting in the last cobblestone at the new Barre Scouting Monument plaza.
We still have to place around 50 more engraved stones and will continue to do this until we fulfill all the orders we have for these.
Thank you Marcel, this was a tremendous amount of work laying these 1500 cobblestones, and a huge contribution to Barre residents.
I would also like to thank the Rock of Ages, The Vermont Granite Museum, The City of Barre, Giuliano Cecchinelli Jr., the Barre Scouting Monument Committee, VFW Post 790, and the hundreds of financial and our many in kind donors.
This is a beautiful asset adding a park setting in the very heart of Barre.
The perfect place for tour buses to stop and let everyone out to shop and purchase meals from our downtown businesses.
There will be further improvements in 2019 with the addition of granite benches and additional landscaping.

One of the many performers at the FallFire Family Festival 2018. A perfect day and a clear night brought record crowds this year to walk the quarry trails by candle light. The performers along the trails were truly amazing. There is a magical feeling which is impossible to describe walking these trails at night to the sounds of Gaelic music, bagpipes, harps and fiddles.

FallFire, now in it’s second year, celebrates Barre’s iconic past through community camaraderie. Set amongst granite quarries, thousands of luminaries light the way to musical performers. And that’s just some of it. Rock, water, fire and art, an autumnal celebration for all.

While there are similarities, FallFire is worth the adventure if you’ve experienced RockFire before. If the Forest Fair, quarry fireworks and technicolor tunnel don’t sway you, perhaps the family-friendly price will.

Proceeds Benefit The Barre Scouting Monument.
Paying tribute to a city, a movement and an artist.

This is a one-day Fall family-affair, with the proceeds going to benefit the completion of the statue commemorating the first scouting troop in America.
