With available hands-free driving, massaging seats and a heated steering wheel, my Midwest road trips just got a major upgrade 😍. I can’t wait to take you along on even more adventures this year in my new 2026 Ford Explorer®.

Where should I go first?!

On the western edge of Wisconsin, there’s a naturally occurring lake within the Mississippi River called Lake Pepin. On the shores of Lake Pepin is a town that shares its name – 📍Pepin, Wisconsin!

Pepin is one of the 33 historic communities along Wisconsin’s Great River Road – a 250-mile scenic drive that follows the Mississippi River. If you ever find yourself in this quaint little town, here are some things to do:

Villa Bellezza: a Tuscan-inspired winery. From the fountain in the piazza to the surrounding vineyard, this place is an absolute must.

Cruise Pepin: offers both public and private cruises on a 21 ft. Bennington Pontoon boat.

Laura Ingalls Wilder cabin: Pepin is the birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder. There’s a museum in town and there’s also a replica cabin on the original site of Laura’s birth. This is the place she describes in Little House in the Big Woods!

Thrive Park: located in Nelson, the next town over, there are over 25 wooded acres to hike and if you make it to the top of the bluffs, you’ll be treated to some stunning views!

Wisconsin’s newest bucket list stay 🌳🏠

📍Kalahari Treehouse Adventures | Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin

I stayed in the Waterfront Treehouse One Bedroom Loft which has incredible views of Lake Delton, two fire pits and a screened-in porch area. Every stay includes access to the full Kalahari Resort experience, including entry into the Kalahari waterparks. I loved that I could enjoy the bustling adventures of the Dells but then come back to a peaceful, nature-inspired retreat - it’s the best of both worlds!

There’s also a path that leads from the treehouses to Daylene’s, a beautiful new restaurant just steps away. I ordered the 24-hour short rib pot roast and the homemade butterscotch pudding, both of which were phenomenal.

Tag someone who’d love to stay here and check the link in my bio to book today!

Update: they're moving their location! 📚 More details in caption 👇🏼

📍The Story Cellar | Wausau, Wisconsin

The Story Cellar is a small used bookstore located in Wausau, Wisconsin. I was so impressed with the condition of the books - they all seemed practically brand new!

There are a couple of seating areas, a kids nook, and you can also purchase a cup of coffee while you’re there.

New location: According to their pinned Instagram post, they're moving to downtown Wausau on the 400 block in July or August! Can't wait to check out their new space.

No fuel required on this Midwest island 🐴

📍Mackinac Island, Michigan

This is Mackinac Island, located between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. No cars are allowed so you either walk, bike (no e-bikes though) or find a horse! We went horseback riding with Cindy's Stables and they let us go off on our own! Such a fun experience riding through the town and around the island.
