A popular spot to enjoy some ice cream 🍦

📍Windmill Ice Cream Shop | Tomahawk, Wisconsin

The Windmill is a must if you're heading up north! Arrive by boat on Lake Nokomis, by bike via the Hiawatha trail or by car - it's just a few miles off of Hwy 51.

My husband ordered three scoops and we were shocked at how much ice cream they gave us 😅 then we went for a little stroll down the trail which is literally right out the back door. A perfect afternoon!

A historic spot in Wisconsin to add to your list!

📍Little Bohemia Lodge | Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin

The restaurant is open year round but according to the Manitowish Waters Chamber of Commerce, the museum is only open Memorial Day-September 30th for just one hour a day (3:30pm-4:30pm). However, it’s always good to call and/or check their page for updates. It was many years ago when I visited, and if I remember correctly, we paid $5 and got a short tour upstairs. The museum upstairs has artifacts from this era and Hollywood memorabilia.

To see the REAL bullet holes, there are some located in the back dining room. We just asked the hostess where we could find them and she pointed us in the right direction. You can also see some on the exterior of the building. There’s probably more but those are the ones we saw!

I’ve never eaten here so I can’t speak to the food but the atmosphere is really cool!

Have you ever explored this Midwest state?

📍Southeast Missouri; in the Missouri Ozarks and Arcadia Valley.

Round Spring: A small circular aqua spring that then flows under a natural bridge.

Alley Spring: A milky blue spring encircled by a walking trail with a bright red mill.

Blue Spring: A hidden oasis tucked in the woods down a long dirt road. This is the deepest spring in Missouri!

Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park: Not a spring but a colorful river with mini cascading waterfalls and deep spots to swim in.

The Ultimate Wisconsin Bucket List Series, Episode 3.

📍LaClare Creamery | Malone, Wisconsin

Located on the east side of Lake Winnebago, LaClare Creamery is one of the best goat cheese spots in the state! My friend and I attended one of their goat yoga classes and it was so cute! Make sure to bring your own yoga mat.

We also grabbed lunch afterwards. Their cafe/gift shop is really nice and I loved their outdoor patio.

The Ultimate Wisconsin Bucket List, Episode 2.

📍Ledgestone Vineyards | Greenleaf, Wisconsin (~20 minutes south of Green Bay)
LedgeStone Vineyards

Enjoy some wine, food and music on their beautiful patio that overlooks the vineyard. You can reserve a table or you can bring your own lawn chairs or picnic blankets and set up in the yard. There's also a little putting green that the kids were loving!

They have a lot of free live music as well as some ticketed concerts. Their food menu offers pizzas, handhelds and shareable plates; I loved my chicken caesar wrap and the charcuterie board.

They make all of their wines on-site and it was so fun to taste a few of them. The Fox River State Trail, which starts in downtown Green Bay, goes right past the vineyard!

New Series! 🚨 The Ultimate Wisconsin Bucket List Series, Episode 1.

Wisconsin Deer Park

When you arrive, you’ll enter through the gift shop where you can buy your ticket at the counter. They’ll also ask if you want to buy their deer feed crackers here. These were easy to feed to the deer! I broke them apart and they lasted me a long time. There are also a few vending machines throughout the park where you can buy corn for 25 cents.

A lot of the deer (especially the bolder ones) hang out near the entrance but you’ll find them all throughout the park.

The paved trail makes a loop around the park where you’ll also pass by other animals in their enclosures like elk, bison, llamas, emus, lemurs, etc.

Open seasonally: mid-April through late October.
