Nature Art Photography is best known for its awe and beauty. On the other hand, comparative nature photographs can reveal a disturbing picture of changes over time in the natural world that we all are a part of.
This collection of landscape photographs was taken from No.5 Mt. near Jackman, Maine. They reveal atmospheric change in recent times. The clear, early fall photo in 2018, is followed below by the same scene in early-winter 2021. The third, very same landscape was taken on October 2, 2023 (upper-right).
The smoke from Canadian wildfires is evident in these comparative landscape and fire tower photos. The very last landscape looks across Maine’s Boundary Mountains to the Quebec border. The depth of smoke impacts Maine’s woodlands in many ways; on wildlife, on trees and forests, and on our own human well-being.
To get closer to this, simply breathe in and out deeply; inhale the life-sustaining oxygen produced by trees in the forest, and breathe with the knowledge that CO2 laden wildfire smoke is also going into your lungs, along with the oxygen.
Every picture and breath tells a story, don’t it? CLICK ON the large, single image view to see the depth of wildfire smoke on the Maine Woods...
