Many years ago, I took a drive along Creek Road in Alexandria Township, New Jersey. Drawn by memories of another time, I parked my car and set out on foot along the banks of the Nishisakawick Creek.
As a child, my brothers, cousins, and I spent countless happy hours here. We waded through the cool water, swam beneath the summer sun, and fished in the quiet pools that seemed so much larger then. The creek was our playground, our refuge, and the backdrop for some of my fondest childhood memories.
As I walked along the creek bed that day, memories of those simpler times came rushing back. Every bend in the stream, every rock, and every reflection on the water seemed to tell a story. For a little while, the years melted away, and I could almost hear the laughter of children carried on the gentle current.
This photograph captures more than a beautiful scene. It captures a feeling—a connection to family, childhood, and a place that helped shape who I am. Of all the photographs I have taken over the years, this remains one of my favorites. I find myself returning to it often, not just for its beauty, but for the memories it holds and the reminder that some places never truly leave our hearts.
