So…what’s the difference between birth photography and a Fresh 48?”

I actually get this question a lot.

They’re both beautiful ways to remember bringing your baby into the world, but they capture two VERY different parts of the story.

Birth photography tells the story of the journey — the anticipation, labor, emotions, meeting your baby, and those first moments together.

Fresh 48 tells the story of those first hours after your baby arrives — the tiny details, sleepy snuggles, siblings meeting baby, and your brand-new family settling in.

And yes…some families choose both. ❤️

I broke down the differences (and how to decide which one might be right for you) in my newest blog:

If you’re expecting, which would you want more — the story of the birth or those first hours afterward?

When GiGi comes to visit, you know a little photo session is going to happen. 🥹📸

I can hardly believe this sweet girl is already almost 9 months old. Time is flying way too fast, but I sure am soaking up every cuddle, giggle, and smile while I can. 💕 Loved every minute with her the last two days. **She smiled more for the cell phone then the big scary camera! LOL but still too adorable!

✨ A cozy new corner has arrived in the studio! ✨

I've been working on expanding my lifestyle newborn space, and I'm so excited to finally share this sweet nursery-inspired setup.

Designed to feel warm, simple, and timeless, it's perfect for:
🤍 Newborns
🤍 Sibling moments
🤍 Family snuggles
🤍 Those natural, connected images everyone loves

This little model kept me on my toes (because, well... toddlers 😉), but I still couldn't wait to give you a peek at this new space!

The best part? You get all the cozy, in-home lifestyle feel without having to clean your house before your session. 😅

I can't wait to photograph more growing families here. Who's ready to be next?

One thing I remind every doula client is this:

There is a difference between working hard and suffering.

Labor is hard. It asks so much of your body and your mind. You'll dig deep, breathe through contractions, lean on your support team, and probably surprise yourself with just how strong you are.

But I never want you to feel like you have to suffer.

If you're struggling, we pause and ask, "What can we change?"

Maybe you need a new position.
Maybe you need movement.
Maybe you need a quieter room.
Maybe you need more encouragement.
Maybe you need an epidural.
Maybe you need to change the plan completely.

None of those choices mean you've failed.

My role as your doula isn't to help you endure unnecessary suffering. It's to help you feel informed, supported, and confident as you make the decisions that are right for you.
Because birth isn't about proving how tough you are.

It's about welcoming your baby into the world in a way that feels right for you.

Questions about Doulas? Ask away. I love talking about birth!

Before almost every session, I can usually picture exactly what the car ride over looked like.

Parents reminding their child to smile. Telling them to listen. Negotiating with snacks and promising ice cream afterward if they cooperate. Quietly stressing that this is important and hoping, just this once, everyone will be on their best behavior.

Then they arrive, and within the first five minutes, Mom or Dad inevitably says, "I'm so sorry."

Sorry that their child won't sit still.
Sorry that they're making silly noises.
Sorry that they suddenly forgot how to answer simple questions they've known their entire life.

But here's the thing… I don't need perfection.

I never have.

Because the truth is, children aren't supposed to be perfectly posed little humans who perform on command. They're curious, energetic, silly, independent, emotional, and sometimes completely unpredictable.

That's not something I have to work around. That's actually what I'm there to capture.
Some of my favorite images aren't the ones where everyone is looking perfectly at the camera. They're the moments in between.

The giggle after a funny joke. The way your child wraps their arms around your leg when they're feeling shy. The goofy expression that will make you laugh years from now because it is so undeniably them.

Childhood isn't polished, and honestly, I don't think your photos should be either.

So if you've been putting off family photos because you're worried your child won't cooperate, I want you to know that you're probably describing almost every child I've ever photographed.

And somehow, every single time, we create beautiful memories anyway.

Give me the wiggles, the silly sounds, the endless energy, and even the moments that feel chaotic.

One day, those will be the things you miss the most. 🤍

Some surprises are just too sweet not to celebrate. 🥹✨

I've known this family before this new chapter, so when mama told me she was keeping her pregnancy on the downlow, I was absolutely giddy waiting for the day I'd finally get to meet this tiny human.

And now... introducing baby Huxley. 🤍

This Fresh 48 session was everything I love about hospital storytelling sessions. No pressure. No elaborate setups. Just a family soaking in those first hours together.

It was sweet, calm, and incredibly relaxed.

Mom absolutely rocked her c-section and deserves all the praise. There was even a celebratory arm raised in the air afterward that perfectly captured the feeling of, "I DID IT!" Because mamas who deliver via c-section are warriors! Strong, brave, resilient, and every bit as incredible.

Big sister was instantly smitten, and seeing mom and big sister in matching pajamas while baby Huxley peacefully stole the spotlight in the foreground, melted my heart.

These are the moments I hope families remember years from now. Not perfection. Not stiff posing. But the overwhelming joy, relief, pride, and love that fills a hospital room when a new baby arrives.

And, mom... we already know one thing for certain.

You're going to need more images than you originally planned for because this gallery is simply too adorable to narrow down. 😉

Welcome to the world, baby Huxley. Your family already adores you, and honestly, so do I. 🤍

Some sessions just feel a little extra magical from the very beginning… and this was one of them. ✨🦌

We started this maternity session with a couple of unexpected visitors when deer appeared, so of course we had to quickly capture the moment. I don't know about you, but I always think of deer as a beautiful sign of gentleness, new beginnings, and trusting the journey ahead.

At 38 weeks, these two are officially in the final countdown before they get to hold their baby girl in their arms. 💕

The gorgeous woodland light shining through the trees was the perfect backdrop to celebrate this season of waiting, dreaming, and soaking in these last moments before life changes in the very best way.

Mom, you are absolutely glowing. This season of growing your baby girl is beautiful, and you are going to be incredible. Both of you are. Your daughter is already so loved, and she is one lucky little girl.

Now… if only my attempts at cleverly tricking them into revealing her name had actually worked. 😂 I'll just have to wait along with everyone else.

I cannot wait to hear what they choose and, even more importantly, I cannot wait to hear that she's finally here. 🤍

We are going on a treasure hunt. A very important treasure hunt. Not the kind with a map or an X marking the spot. The kind where the treasure is found in the moments.

Yesterday's micro wedding in the beautiful Kickapoo Valley was filled with them.

There was the younger daughter seeing her mom in her wedding dress for the very first time. The quiet excitement, the pride, the emotion.

There was the groom and his future stepson getting ready together, sharing a part of the day that felt both ordinary and incredibly meaningful.

There was a tie clip carrying the photo of a father who could not be there in person but was certainly present in spirit. A surprise gift that brought tears and reminded everyone that love doesn't end when someone is gone.

There was the handkerchief lovingly made by a stepdaughter. The first look. The laughter-filled ceremony led by the groom's best friend of forty years, who somehow managed to have everyone laughing one moment and wiping away tears the next.

And then there was the heat.🌞

The kind of heat where everyone was melting, seeking shade, and joking about surviving the day together. Yet not a single person seemed to mind because they were exactly where they wanted to be.

As the evening unfolded, we set off on our "treasure hunt".

We wandered through the rolling hills, stopping wherever the light, the view, or the moment called us. Around every turn was another piece of treasure—an embrace, a laugh, a stolen glance, a breathtaking backdrop that somehow looked even more beautiful with these two standing in it.

The views were incredible.

The details were stunning.

But the real treasure was the connection.

The way these two look at each other.

The way every detail HAD meaning.

The way their closest circle of thirty-five or so guests helped create a day that felt intimate, intentional, and completely authentic.

And just when I thought the night couldn't possibly give us anything more, one final moment unfolded that felt like the perfect ending to an incredible day. The best kind of treasure!

And what a beautiful hunt it was. ❤️📸

A few days ago, I had the honor of photographing something incredibly special— my son and his fiancé's engagement session. (just one that they have planned) 🤍

What started as a simple photo session turned into an unexpected adventure. We laughed until our cheeks hurt, wandered over a mile farther than any of us planned, and somehow found ourselves completely forgetting about the camera 'half' the time.

There were the classic engagement photos, of course. The ones where they looked at the camera and smiled. But my favorite moments were the ones in between—the laughter, the teasing, the way they naturally reached for each other's hands, and the joy that seemed to follow them everywhere we went.

As a photographer, I love documenting stories.

As a mom, this one hit a little differently.

Watching your child find someone who makes them laugh this hard, smile this easily, and look this loved is something words never quite prepare you for.

These two are building something beautiful together, and I am so excited to watch their next chapter unfold.
