Steve Dimock Photography

Steve Dimock Photography Steve Dimock is a wildlife and nature photographer. Along with his wife (who is also a fabulous phot Photography runs in the Dimock family.

The first book on Outdoor photography was written by Julian Dimock a century ago. So, it is no surprise that I was raised with a camera in hand. In 2006 I was shooting large format and producing prints for personal use when I was brought into my first gallery. Since that time I have moved to digital work and have grown in endeavors. I have written an introductory book on Bird Photography and have

had several images place in National competitions. Along the way, I introduced my wife to photography and she has grown and developed her own artistic vision. Together, we produce images for print, web and marketing efforts. We operate our photography business out of our office of the La Kris Inn.

The high winds on the morning of the 25th put a few of the Brown Pelican on the beach. They have been hanging around for some time now. There must be some good food in the area.

We have neighbors who have Turkey, Chickens, Goats and a variety of animals. This year, the wild Turkey showed up for mating season and have been strutting around in all their beauty. It's rather fun to see.

A couple days ago, while wandering with Charley, I noticed a Wandering Tattler on a rock and had to make a few images. While I worked away, a Tufted Puffin suddenly appeared flying out from Haystack Rock. I hope it was here to nest.
Not the greatest image but it's always fun seeing Puffin. :-)

A information for your consideration. If you’re interested in seeing a Puffin, join Susan Dimock and I next Saturday and Sunday at Face Rock Wayside. We will be joining Shoreline Education for Awareness, Inc. in watching the Tufted Puffin. 9AM to 11AM.

Among the many wonderful encounters Susan Dimock Photography and I had during the spring migration was with this Red Knot. It took a while, but I finally learned that this bird was banded in Mexico. The image and information was forwarded to the Mexican authorities. I hope to hear from them but that might take a while. Following up on tags is just one more fun piece to getting these photos.

This week we have some excellent low tides. This is a fabulous chance to take a walk on the wild side and see some amazing creatures. If you want a little instruction, will be doing a tidepool walk on the 19th (8:15 AM) and 20th (9 AM) at Coquille Point. This is a fun and free activity. :-)

This weekend, the 16th and 17th, Susan and I will be among the volunteers at Face Rock Wayside. Spotting scopes will be set up for viewing the bird colonies on the rocks. Come join us.
This Common Murre is one of the more commonly viewed birds on our offshore rocks. However, they are usually on top of the rocks not on the sand. :-)

Here is one for all the mothers out there. A Galapagos Sea Lion and her pup having a little snuggle time. :-)
