Union Pacific along the B&O.

The old B&O Railroad's Baltimore-Philadelphia Mainline, now CSXT's Philadelphia Subdivision, is not known for interesting power, movements, or interesting trains of any kind, unlike the nearby CSX Capital Sub, and Old Main Line right of ways. Only 10 scheduled freight trains run a day along the Philly Sub, including locals, pretty, much all the same using the same types of motive power, making any interesting train movements or any different or unique style of motive power being used a rare sight to see. Things changed on June 15th, 2024; CSX abolished the mandatory use of cab signals along the CSX RF&P Subdivision, which most Philly Sub trains run along, opening CSX up to a whole new world of possibilities. Ever since the Cab Signal abolishment, and MOW curfews in place, there have been many interesting train movements this summer along the Philly Sub, with trains like these pictured here. Foreign power from the Midwest, the Union Pacific Railroad (The only Class I RR to obtain its original name). CSX used some of UPRR locomotives on a couple of CSX's trains. From what I can recall, these were the only two trains this summer along the Philly Sub that had UPRR locomotives being used as motive power.

End of summer flics.

Last summer vacation for me. Spent this summer more with friends and family having fun and exploring places instead of being trackside. To cap of the last bit of summer, here are some of my last shots taken from August. Not many, but a few are enough. Each photo has its own captions.

A Pair Of Bright Future Blue's.

On Thursday, June 20th, I received word of CSX eastbound manifest train M372-19 arriving in Baltimore, MD, with a pair of worn-out CSX GE AC4400CWs still painted in the company YN2 "Bright Future" paint scheme leading the train. It's not often you see many YN2 AC44 leaders on CSX anymore, but every now and then you'll see one here and there, but seeing two lead together isn't at all a frequent sight anymore, making it worth shooting and chasing, which is exactly what I did this day.
The YN2 paint scheme was introduced in March of 1990. The GE AC44 was introduced in 1993, three years after the paint scheme. When CSX purchased their fleet of AC44s, all were painted in the YN2 scheme. Fast forward to the present, the number of CSX's remaining AC44s still painted in YN2 is quickly decreasing. Many of CSX AC44s are being rebuilt into CM44s, for a more reliable and sustainable locomotive. Other AC44s are simply just being repainted into the company's many variants of the YN3 paint schemes, making the remaining YN2s a bit interesting and unique to shoot.

Hey yall! Welcome to the new Chesapeake Rail Photography page!
My name is Cameron Hershey. I take crappy pictures of crappy trains along the CSX Philly Sub and Western Maryland as already stated in the bio.
With me being more active on Facebook than Instagram and YouTube, I figured to create this page mainly to share my photography. You'll see many different photos and maybe learn a thing or two off em. I'm obviously no professional, nor will I ever be. This is just a hobby that me and some others might find to be fun.
I hope yall enjoy the posts, and if ya do, leave a like, follow, or whatever the hell it is now. 😂
Here's a crappy photo of me along the WM East Subdivision taking photos of what is now the Maryland Midland Railway.
