One last sneak from this past weekend 😍

Emma and Jack are MARRIED, and their ceremony was so beyond special. You see… their ceremony was led by Jack’s uncle, who has now married three generations of his family. Standing up there, they became part of a story that started long before them. You can tell that kind of thing matters to these two, because the whole day felt thoughtful, from how prepared they were to how much of it centered on the people they love and the place they call home.

And they needed that preparation, because the day quite literally started in the middle of the Baltimore Marathon. Everything still went off without a hitch, though we won’t talk about the wind or the chilly temps that no one could expect would blow in overnight...

What we will talk about is how they held each other close all day, sipped coffee and cocktails until the night wrapped up, and built a dance floor that was every bit as fun as they are. I can’t wait for you to see more soon!

Twirling into forever like ✨

Lisa and Ben are MARRIED, and this day was so meant to be. The weather tried everything… the day started with heavy clouds and visibility alerts on my drive in and ended with some wild rain during their party, but the sun showed up for their ceremony like it had an RSVP. With views for days, their people gathered close, and all six of their pups (who were perfect, obviously) these two became husband and wife!

This one was so sweet. I can’t wait to share more soon. 💛

Given how chilly it is this morning, how snuggly these two look, and how gorgeous the foliage is in every frame, you’d never guess it was almost 90º when we took Lauren and Mike’s engagement photos last week. Mother Nature showed up for the leaves and the sunshine. The fall temps just took a few extra days to get the memo!

Not that it slowed them down for a second… Lauren and Mike are absolute gems, and exploring Centennial Park with them was so much fun! Enjoy a few sneaks from our fall afternoon together 🍁

Some people just radiate joy, and Claire and Jack fit that description to a T.

They got married on 10/10 (one of THE most requested dates of the year) at William and Mary, the campus that first brought them together. Surrounded by so many of their favorite people, they shared personal vows in Wren Chapel, and then we wandered campus for some of the most beautiful portraits.

Seriously, I’m still not over how special and stunning it all was. From the most classic getting-ready photos at Armistead House all the way to the joyful dips and kisses through bubbles at the end of the night, it was just perfection. (And the threat of rain even held off for them!)

So many more to come from Claire and Jack’s wedding day, pinky promise. I just adore these two 💕

✨ Claire + Jack, Part 1 ✨

On Wednesday, these two got married in the church Jack grew up attending with his family, so the people who can’t make the trip to Williamsburg this weekend could be right there in the pews. Claire wore her mom’s wedding dress, the light went gold right on cue, and everyone who needed to be in that room was in it.

There’s no rule that says a wedding has to fit into one day. Claire and Jack built theirs around their people, and you can feel it in every thoughtful decision.

Now I’m packing my bags (and repacking them, because that’s who I am) and heading south for the celebration. If Wednesday was any sign of the intention and heart these two put into everything, this weekend is going to be so good!

A couple so sweet I get to photograph their engagement session twice 💅

Let me explain. Fall is a wild time of year for both scheduling and weather, and when I met up with Tomi and Rebecca on Friday afternoon, we had sunny skies and zero thoughts of rain. Mother Nature had other plans.

These two love to hike, so naturally we scaled the side of a rather large hill (cliff? it was a cliff) in Patapsco. Somewhere in the woods, some truly insane clouds blew in. Tomi and Rebecca were absolute rockstars about it and snuggled and smooched their way through the river while I refreshed the forecast on my Apple Watch on a loop. By the time we hiked back to our cars, the rain had started and outfit number two was officially not happening.

So we put a part two on the calendar, which also got rained out. Third time's the charm, right?

In the meantime, I couldn't wait any longer to get them on your screen, because these two are just too cute and the way they love each other is something so beautiful.

🍂 🎉 MOOD because fall family and pet minis are open for booking 🎉 🍂

Save the date: fall minis are officially scheduled for Saturday, November 7 in Riverside Park, and it's time to snag your spot. While evening mini sessions are spoken for, I have a select number of morning spots available!

Fifteen minutes is all it takes to document this season with your family. Just your kiddos who grew three inches since summer and the fall foliage doing her thing all around you... and you know I always love when you include your pup too!

This is the only new family work I'm taking on this fall outside of my previously booked bump and baby clients, and it's one day with a limited number of slots. So don't wait on this one.

Before their wedding day, Brittany and Grayson told me about one photo they could already see in their heads: the two of them on the green with their custom last name flag ⛳

So of course, halfway through post-ceremony portraits, the craziest clouds I had seen all season rolled in. The radar said we had minutes and nobody could promise the rain would clear later. If this photo was happening, it was happening right then…

Which is how Samantha Jean Photography | Central PA Wedding Photographer ended up sprinting inside on a capture the flag mission while I kept coaching these cuties through portraits. Picture Brittany and Grayson snuggled up, polished, glowing, completely unbothered. Now picture Sam behind them, tearing back across the green with a full-size flag like she was about to pole vault into the Olympics. We all giggled.

We popped the flag into the hole closest to cocktail hour, got the shot, and these two ran for cover with about three minutes to spare before the sky opened up.

I could talk all day about how grateful I am for couples who trust me, my team, and a radar app we were watching like hawks. But this is really a story about why I include a second photographer on wedding days.

Yes, a second gets gorgeous extra angles. Yes, it means we can be in two places when the day calls for it. It also means that when the thing you’ve been picturing for months is about to get rained out, someone can go running to make it happen (all while monitoring the radar) while I never put my camera down. You get newlywed portraits AND your flag photo. No choosing 💕
