Return to Narnia
Greetings Baltimore! In the immortal Monty Python voice, “I’m not quite dead yet!”. While it’s been a challenging year, all is well and I’m looking forward to getting back to photography in 2024. Announcements! Due to multiple (completely unexpected) inquiries, I’m bringing this print back for a short time! It’s received the upgraded treatment that my other prints went through when I rebuilt my online shop last year. It’s available at a discounted price for December only. Also, while I don’t typically have sales, in the spirit of this re-release, you can order any print (including this one) and receive a code for 20% off an additional order! (Applies to Open Edition prints for December only). I hope everyone is having a good year and Happy Holidays!

More news! Not only are prints back, but they’ve gone next level. The entire process has been brought in-house so I can finally produce prints that live up to my outrageous standards.
I quietly shuttered my old online store a year or two ago after becoming extremely frustrated with the results I was getting from so called “professional” print labs as well as the lack of functionality at my old web host (which was, of course, specifically marketing themselves to photographers as a great place to sell prints). Rather than continuing to buy into a system that was letting me down at every turn, I burned the whole thing down and started over. I’m extremely happy to finally announce a new site, new prints, and most importantly, a new process. Better paper, better equipment, better knowledge, better store. Whether you’re looking for last minute Xmas gifts or you’re just in the market for some new Baltimore scenes on your walls, check it out. It’s totally worth it. 😊

Lady Liberty by Brittany Wharry (2022)
Greetings! It’s been a minute! I’m absolutely stoked to roll out a bunch of new updates over the next few weeks… the first of which is that I’ve been hard at work on adding an artwork reproduction service to my ever-evolving portfolio. It’s been both an incredibly time consuming and rewarding process, and it’s finally off the ground. It also prompted some upgrades and expansion in other areas as well, which I’ll get to soon. But for now, check out this awesome painting (now available as a print!) by emerging artist Brittany Wharry. It’s been fun working with her on this and I’m super happy for her that it’s finally available. More details to follow!

Unissa (2020)
An awesome studio session with actress / dancer / all around bad-ass .cruse ( on Facebook), one of only a handful I was able to do last year. The brief was for a commercial / fashion-editorial type vibe, both full-length and tighter shots, using less conventional seamless colors. We settled on mocha (pictured here) and olive green (for most of the full length shots). It took a surprising amount of effort to get an interesting look out of the mocha, but after getting creative with the lighting we were able to dial it in just fine. Looking forward to sharing more from this set in the future!

Ironically the biggest challenge to being a photographer this past year was the one reason I kept picking up the camera even when I couldn’t work. I made several attempts to resume business as usual (or at least some semblance of it) but just couldn’t sustain anything without having the amount of time required to pursue it. Now, thankfully, things are starting to move forward again. Two weeks ago was the first day I had a full 8 hours to myself in over a year, and it was joyous. But I’d be lying if I said I look at these pictures and think it was anything other than worth it. 👪❤️

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved autumn (at least once I was old enough for it to no longer be synonymous with the start of the school year). The combination of the leaves changing and the fleeting nature of it seemed to lend itself perfectly to a time for introspection; for contemplation. Coupled with the fact that I was an avid hiker when I had the time, it meant cooler temps, less humidity (curse these east coast summers), and no mosquitoes. Perfect conditions for backpacking. In recent years, however, it’s become a stark reminder of something far more serious: climate change. 😕
There are obviously many, far more scientific, signs that climate change is a serious issue, but anybody who has paid attention to the conditions up and down the northeastern US over the last 10 years should be well aware that the autumn season has become increasingly erratic. And more serious still is the reminder that so many people still don’t get it. 🤔
I normally avoid discussing politics on public forums, if for no other reason than the fact that I am already fully aware of the depths to which idiocy will plunge. I need no reminder of that. But after watching the final debate last night, I do feel compelled to point out the one question that nobody seems to demand of these candidates: Do you actually think the planet cares about us? Every time they talk about climate change and how to deal with it, it’s always jobs, jobs, jobs. News flash: The climate cares about jobs about as much as a virus cares about your freedom to not wear a mask. How did we become so narcissistic that we think our monetary wealth is the most important component of this discussion? 🤬
We’ve steadily created a more and more synthetic existence over the last few hundred years and now it seems we’ve crawled so far inside it that we’ve forgotten what the natural world is and how it works. The natural world will react to what we pump into it. It will not care about the reason we pumped something into it. And no amount of wishful thinking will change that. There is no other issue on the ballot because none of the other issues will matter if we’re extinct. The time is now. accordingly

When the only thing on tap for St Patty’s day is Corona 💀 🙄
On a serious note, this is what Fell’s Point looked like last night, and I’m sure other areas of the city looked the same. In places like this, small businesses are the cornerstone of what makes a neighborhood what it is. Could you imagine without ? Me either. So get out there (figuratively, that is) and . You can even start by leaving a comment about a business you think people should check out while they’re pretending to work from home. And if you are a local business, feel free to use the comments as a platform to reach a few more people.

It's been a long, bizarre, entertaining, surreal, and overall wonderful year. Tons of changes came in 2019, not the least of which is that I'll probably be in bed before midnight for the first time in my adult life. In keeping with the kind of year it's been, you won’t see any fireworks from me tonight, only this wish: May your New Year be as bizarre, entertaining, surreal, and overall wonderful... as finding a scooter in a tree.
